It is with very sad heart to inform everybody that a great friend of the entire racing community has passed away.
Allan Johnson (yes the man with the crazy socks)
Alan was one of the most loving guys that grace HRP. His passion for racing was contiguous and if you ever stood near him, you were about to go to a whole new level with your passion. When you heard Alan announce a race you could hear that passion in his voice. I remember the first time I met Alan, I couldn't help staring at those crazy wild socks that he had on and at that time he was the JR Director and I ask him about the socks and he told me it was about the Kids racing, that they loved those socks...funny thing is that those socks were never about the cancer that was behind those socks. Thats just the kind of guy he was...always thinking about others before himself. I could write all night about this wonderful man and what he meant to me and everybody else, so I'll end with:
Alan saw my passion for racing and the Jr program and he invited me to start announcing the Jr races. well that was about 7 yrs ago and today I have the honor to not only be the track chaplain and announce at HRP, this year I get to continue his legacy as the Junior Director...THANKS ALAN FOR SETTING MY PASSION ON FIRE!!!
