Lone Star Motor Sports Park

Hey all you racers and friends I`m back at it again at Lone Star , we are open 1st and 3rd Sat of every month ! I really would enjoy seeing all my friends and racers come out for some racing and get together talk about what we can do for you in the coming months to have more races set up just for you all to enjoy! Come on out Gary ( the tech guy).

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

Not only Gary, but I saw "RICHIE" the most famous "Starter" in the country at Lonestar awhile back. Man, I wish it could be like the good old days when we wore our cars out bracket racing! I see a "RISE" coming back by some old racers getting back into racing. "Give them a place to race, and they will come!" Lets get together and get something going to where we can get a car count up and have some races!....I am in.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

what kind of program are you planning? brackets( electronic and foot break, or a street car fest? the word was Lone Star was out to pasture?
signed Keith with High hopes it will happen

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

Ya'll talking about trying to get a bracket program going?

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

If I can get everybody to start showing some interest in a program and have sufficiant car count we prove to them that we deserve a place to race and have a program , we can make it happen. Street Stock - Foot Brake and Electronics I want to show them how we used to do it and make it happen I want to have the kind of races that brings us all back together again . I really miss all my friends and family that means all of you. Thanks

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

Would you guys (angleton or sealy) be interested in holding a jr.dragster only event? Ken Ryan and myself are starting a Jr.only series next year (5 to 6 races) and are looking for some tracks to partner with. These races should draw between 80 to 100 cars per event with 4 seperate tech cards (4 races) being bought per racer. We are looking in the South East Texas, region as well as North Texas,East Texas and Lousiana.Any help would be appreciated......
Thanks Shane Heckel 281-303-8500

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

I think there will be a good count if your events are scheduled not to have conflicts with other tracks.. it's hard to go head to head with a established track with a good program. some only do a once per mth bracket race. so there are some dates out there.. Just think of Angleton, they are finished for the yr. the weather in the fall is perfect ! Keith

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A BRACKET PROGRAM BACK AT LONESTAR!

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

If we can get you all together and show up for test and tune we may beable to put up a little jackpot race for a trophy. I would need to talk to Bob Key the track Director, see what he thinks about it . If you had a large turn out like what your saying that might be something to consider. But is that just JRs ?

This. And are you NHRA or IHRA? If you are NHRA, you can count on 2 footbrake cars, If you are IHRA, dont' conflict with Angleton.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

I am very interested in a bracket program, I think Lonestar can get the cars. As far as test and tune goes I personally dont need to test. I dont understand why the racers need to prove they deserve a place to bracket race. This is just my opinion, but I believe the track should put something in place and then its up to the racers to support it. Hopefully Lonestar will have a IHRA bracket series, if so I would like to be a part of it.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

We like the whole idea, If it is necessary to get a bracket program we will tow to Sealy and test and tune. Why not just have a bracket race, hide and watch how many show up.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

I just got a new car and it will be ready here pretty quick (as soon as I am through paying Russell Fields). There are four of us with new cars that would committ to Sealy track year round for bracket racing! I know there are a LARGE number of old Sealy racers that were loyal to the track back then and are getting back into racing.

I know there are some great MARKETING guys out there that could get the cars in. There are some hard core bracket racers that really just want a place to race. I think if the payouts are secondary for a while then the track could see the support would be there and as the track made money the payouts could increase. ...............or

Has anyone thought about seeing if it is possiable to rent the track and "promote" it's own bracket race? Kind of broker the race? There is a couple of guys in Houston that do it and seem to be quite successful.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

As of right now we run a jackpot race on the saturdays that we are open and along with that we have street stock . You pay $20 for entry to me and 100% goes back to you the racers, including $100 extra for a 10+ car count. If we all get together and make a good car count , show that we really want to make something of this I will run the program if I have to so that it will be made to work.We are an IHRA track so it doesn`t matter we accept NHRA cert. I run the staging lanes, with tech inspection and the races.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

if you have a fair pay out to entry fee ratio, 1 round buy back, you will get the cars,, we tow all over the state for a chance to run our hot rods, if you have a desent track, freindly staff, that welcomes the racers and their familys it will go over better than you think, I go out of my way to go to places like that. I am sure there are other whom share my view. There are some great racers who look at this site,, the word will get around
Keith

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

Speaking of the good ole days, bring back the 2 tech card program. Remember? You could buy 2 tech cards to run one class. Sealy had the program and most the bracket racers would buy 2. The tower had the 4 different colored lights that would pair up the blue & red carded cars and the yelllow & green cards. If you had a blue or red card and a green or yellow card you got to run twice in one round. Hell one year, maybe the last year they ran it, I ran myself in the final. Fun times. Also liked the Texas two step and the July 4th races.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

Yes I do remember the good ol` days because Rick Davis and I ran those events with Glenn / Dee over seeing everything. All we need right now is to get everyone to show the interest so I have something to present to the director. Jrs too are also more than welcome to show up , I think if it is planned out right you can pretty much have something for all the racers. I would have to learn about the point system but my wife said she would help too.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

We would love to see a bracket program at LSMP. We have 4 cars that will make the trip when our schedule allows and do our best to support a good local bracket program. The rumor mill has left some question as to the possible demise of some of the somewhat local tracks. I hope none of it's true. There are plenty of racers that will show up. They/We are going to race somewhere even if it means driving further.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

LSMP is the closest track to me. It is a PITA to drive across Houston to a track that, well I will leave that one alone. I drove farther going south than east to a track that cared about the racers.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

If you are paying out the money the racers will show up cause that is what they are looking for, is what is the return going to be if I drive 100 miles or more one way to get there and then have to drive home afterwards. It is aproximately 100 miles one way from my house so the key issue is money. Even if we dont win we know its there to be taken. This is my oppinion and is the same for several that i have talked to over the years.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

Well like I said before all we have right now is the jack pot race with everybody that enters ($20) if you want to set-up a first round by-back we can say $15 repeat then go from there ? I want to be clear on this that if we continue to have a strong showing for jackpot and I take responsibility for the program set up we could possibly have something for next year I would have to devote alot of effort to this to make it work. I`m willing and can get support from a few others like my wife and maybe Richey then we can do it right. I would really like to see all of you back at SEALY racing again I miss my racing family & that means you too Paul Smith !

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

I am very interested. I think there are alot of folks that will be looking for an IHRA track to compete for points for bracket finals. I would like for it to be like the good ol days, I met lots of friends at Lonestar that includes you Gary. Lonestar has a great facility.

Paul Smith

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

GARY, I KNOW IT IS WAY EARLY,AND YOU ARE JUST STIRING UP INTREST. IN TRYING TO SHOW THE OWNERS AND MANAGERS THE GOOD POINTS OF A BRACKET PROGRAM. BUT IT SURE WOULD BE A HOOT TO ATTEND ANOTHER HANGOVER NATIONAL AT SEALY.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

Good thinking George!!!!!

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

Hangover "HELL YES". Way to go George!
Murphy

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

im with you on the HANGOVER NATIONALS!!

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

We would LOVE to be bracket racing in Sealy again!
If the 'Hangover Nationals' happens, Meyer Racing is in, too.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

Well you all are in my interest , if I can show them how we did it before and can get alot of cooperation from you`al I will ask to set-up a "Hang Over National"!!!! I would really enjoy that a true weekend of nothing but pure bracket racing at its best. In the mean time get with me on this Saturday and race in the jack-pot for some money , introduce yourself to Bob Key and make your presence known.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

we try and make it out there today with the jr to do some testing chnaged somethings.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

All right guy`s I was hoping some of you would show up on Sat.9th but thats okay , I asked about the "HangOver Nationals" anyway and Bob said cool! Now if I can gat a steady car count for the next weekend and you`al come out and get in the "JackPot" race that would help me show him how we can run a race with a decent number of cars. Do we need to talk about the purse and all that-- what would it take to have a Great Show of cars? I talking about like the Divisional races when people came from all over 200 plus cars , fill the place up!!! Look I have Ernie and Mike Blair are already in for Oct 23 race who else is gona show -- come on out win some money have a good time No/E and Top ET even want all you JRs too.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

Hodl on Gary, we are putting in the motor on one car, and the tranny on another. Hopefully we will be ready. As you know Sealy was my home track so I am in!. If my car ain't ready, I will drive some kind of car, van, something, (it don't really matter) and I will enter the race just to show my support.

Last week was bad timing as the pro-mods had a show!

Everyone just needs to spread the word that Sealy is up and running,...:"They will come!"

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

GARY: WE ARE SOMEWHAT CONFUSED, YOUR FIRST POST STATED 1ST AND 3RD SAT. THE 9TH AND 23RD ARE THE 2ND AND 4TH SAT. (UNLESS MY CALENDAR IS WRONG) LONESTARS WEB PAGE STILL TALKING ABOUT THE 9TH IF YOU COULD POST A ACCURATE SCHEDULE IT WOULD HELP THIS ONE DUMB RACER THANKS

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

Yes I know that was because of a conflict in the scheduling . But none the less keep checking the Lone Star web site for the updates okay . Now here is the best part of my job you asked me for a race I have one for you`al It will be on Nov.6th $1,000 to the winner and it pays to the quarters. If you want an Top ET I have to talk to Bob but right now its set for NE. Can I at least get all of you that want to show up for the JackPot race on Oct.23rd please come out and we can have Top ET & NE race on that night to show how we like it and I would like to see the JRS come out so we can get them in too !! How about it guys ?? I`m putting my reputation on this for all of my good friends & family of RACERS . Oh and the fee for JackPot has been lowered to $10 entry Bob thought that might help he still is adding $100 for 10+ cars.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

Gary what is the entry for Nov 6th race, will try and get the word out. I am going to try and make the 23rd have prior plans but we are working on that.

Paul Smith

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

The entry fee is $50 and bybacks 1st round $25 , if we can get enough cars to have a Top ET race on the 23rd I can ask for a race for them too on Nov.6th hope to get Jrs in on this too that way we have a full race . Then we can start planning for the "HangOver Nationals" too . OH by the way Super announcer the "Voice" of LSMP will be there too on Nov.6th Todd and if I can we may have RICHIe the super starter !!! We do this right we may see a BIG change for us coming. How about it guys show up on the 23rd !!! Love to see you`al

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

Gary,Nov.6th is a bad date for the jr.dragster crowd. That is the day of the HRP banquet for the Jr.racers.Im sure that if you run the "Hangover Nationals" and involve the Jrs.,It will be a hit.Let me know If I can help you in anyway!ALSO we (Ken Ryan and myself) have started a Jr Dragster series and would like to see about a race at your track. If you could provide me with an e-mail address I would be happy to send you an information packet. The same type series that we are talking about generally attractes 80 to 120 cars and provides between 250 to 300 tech cards sold. Again, lets get this thing rollin'!

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

WE PLAN TO T&T ON THE 23RD, HOPE TO SEE SOME OTHER TO ELECTRONICS CARS THERE.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

Gary give a call on my cell when ya get time.

Thanks
Paul Smith

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

Thanks Paul will do , give you a call on Friday about 9;30am. I will go over the details for the JRS and send it to Bob to see if we can spark some interest , as always you are all welcome to show up and if there is enough cars we will always make room for a jackpot race.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

Paul, ya got you another Jr. Dragster?....LOL!

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

LOL Probably need one!!!

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

No not Paul , it was Heckel they have a JR format that they would like to have set up here at LSMP so we are going over the details. I really appreciate all of your enthusiasim for the idea of return of the programs here so lets get some cars to show up on the 23rd so we can take it to the next level. I understand it is hard for some to make the long haul because of the economy, but for those that have a chance to stay closer to home maybe it will make a better change for you even if we have a program that races points once a month or maybe twice a month we can make it work if we all chip in. A Huge thank you goes out to all of you and I hope to see you all come out . Talk to any and all spread the word lets make it happen.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

We like it too much! I will be there when I can (not working) Mike and momma too. I can get some more Victoria cars to come out. We all miss the good old days at Lonestar.

PS; i'm supposed to be off on the 23rd if I'm not forced for overtime.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

I'd love to see a bracket program back up and running at LSRP!

We wouldn't make every single race, but we'd have 2 cars at most races (maybe 3 at $2k+ to win money meets) if there is; #1 - electronics class, #2 - track prep.

I'd prefer NHRA sanctioning, but would run at LSRP even if non-sanctioned as long as the cars/drivers ARE tech'd under NHRA/IHRA specs (licenses, chassis cert, etc). Would love to run No-E if transbrake/2-steps ARE allowed (bad hip prevents me from footbraking).

my .02,

-Tim

Gary -

Two things...

#1 - Unfortunately we cannot make the 23rd (Previous plans).
#2 - Please clear up the confusion about what classes will be run on that date...

I've mentioned the notion of LSRP doing a bracket program again to several people and they all have stated "but it's No-E only" as their reason for a non-interest in LSRP as a bracket choice (Just to be clear; I'm not knocking No-E... I'd actually love to run it if it weren't for issues with my hip when footbraking).

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

Lonestar is IHRA sanctioned, so I am sure they will abide by there guidelines.

Paul Smith

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

Okay heres the line up for the 23rd , we will have a street stock race , also a Jackpot race for(8cars) No/E and if I have at least (8)cars showup we will have a Electronics Jackpot race, entry fee to No/E will be $10 and Electronics $10. Ok for the Race on Nov.6th No/E will be $50 entry , 1st round byback will be $25 and NOW if WE have enough cars for a bonus Jackpot Race in Electronics we will have one!!I would like to see a good showing for this race so we can move forward and have a great show of interest for a "HangOver Nationals" race. By having a strong car count it will solidify what we are trying to let them know we will support them in a program . Heres the link www.lonestarmotorsportspark.com for more info on the race details, talk this up to everyone Okay. Thanks to all of you lets all have a great time and make this work. Oh and by the way on the 23rd if we can get at least 10 cars in a jackpot No/E race the track adds $100 to the kitty, but also if we can get another 10 cars for Electronics race I will ask Bob if the track will add $100 to that race too okay.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

Okay guys it really made me feel good on the 23rd we had 11 cars for No/E jackpot race and guess who showed up after all Mr. Bob Barkley well you should have seen his face when he runner up to Mr. Chris Burke man that kid can ride a bike it was a great night for all. In case youa`l doen`t remember Chris he used to help ol` mr. Terry Cucina with his JR dragster years ago ( god you talk about maken me feel old). Hope too see you out on Nov. 6th . Anyone have any questions please feel free to call me (979) 221-7831 gates will open at 12 noon hope to see everyone.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

Sounds like a plan! We will see ya'll on the 6th and really hope the Hang Over race happens at LSMP. We usually head up to SAR for their Hang Over Nationals, but we'll stay close to home if LSMP puts a good one together.

Thanks again Gary!

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

It will be a real treat to see all of you , thanks again for all your feedback and lets put a awesome race on.

Re: Lone Star Motor Sports Park

$1000 to win and a $50 entry on the 6th for mod? Pays down to the 1/4's? Closing on my house, that we finally sold on friday, going to see if I can talk the wife into spending Nov.'s house payment that we don't get to make on racing. :)
