I don't have a dog in the fight, don't have the bucks to make it happen, or the time...but...
I know it isn't going to be something for 2011, but what if a racer or group of racers sat down with the local tracks to put together a series that ran once or twice a month at some local tracks.
If the ball got rolling now and a plan for 2012 was in place by early fall (Aug-Sept) such a series might have a legit shot to get some sponsors to build a points fund.
For it to be worth messing with, it really needs to build off strong participation from a majority of the local bracket racers from Evadale to San Antonio.
By pooling the racer base in the area, we might see a series generate some solid car counts. Good racing, a buzz that bracket racing in the area has needed for a while. Maybe piggy backed with a few index classes.
Something along the lines of:
Feb: Race one RPR
Mar: Race two PVR
Apr: Race three SAR
May: Race four LSR
May/June: Race five Evadale
June: Race six LSR
July: Race six SAR
Aug: Race 7 Evadale
Sept: Race 8 PVR
Sept: Series Final (Pick your favorite track here)
You would have to have an agreement from all the tracks not to schedule a race on top of the series..
Will, I think it is a great idea. Would this be a points series? Also the tracks are close enough that you could be gone for only 1 day. Plus you wouldn't get burnt out by running the same track every other weekend. Good luck getting RPR involved with this. Any of the other tracks I could see this happen at. Maybe get Jack to buy Angleton and reopen it. See ya at the Nat's.
it's worked before, but it would take a lot of ground work to make it happen. Lone Star and SAR would be great...maybe Evadale and Pine valley, RPR?? would be tuff.
If the tracks would not promote conflicting dates. The host track having good pay-outs. I think it would pick up a lot of interested racers from all over the State.
