Hey guys just to let y'all know we are having another race it has been posted on the web site , I hope this is soon enough so you can make plans to show up. I also would like to thank all the racers that have been showing up for jackpot we have had a good count and the boys and girls have been racing for over $200.00. Those that have been showing up kari & robert garbs , robert upchurch , bob dormaux, mr. Crume, don Brassington, David Hunter and all the others I might have forgotten. Hope too see you. Soon.
Ok, I have looked at Lone Star page for the 23rd. race, only one question, the tect card is $50.00 for Top & Mod, but the pay out for mod is $300.00 to win less, and i would bet that there will be as many or more Mod?
Didn't say this would keep me away, but it is worth the track looking at.
Thanks
Murphy
I noticed this myself. I guess its because we are in the beginners class.
Aint never figured out why footbrake should pay the same entry and race for less. Maybe I am missing the footbrake discount at the diesel pumps, race fuel distributers, and tire distributers. In the same boat as Murphy still plan on attending just make ya wonder how this was figured. Speaking for myself here how about the class with the bigger car count races for the bigger pot? Reward the class with the most cars! If that class happens to be Top then Top it is. JMO
Looking forward to this race!!!!
Hey Paul is this the track out I10 west? I might come down and try it out. But I dont see why mod would pay the same to race as top, and win 300 less? Fuzzy math. lol
Richard,
Yes Sir you are correct, it is I10 West, two exits pass 36 at Sealy, There is a sign on the freeway. Come on down and bring somemore of those East Texas Boys an Grils with you.
It's a nice place, and it would be great if they did have a SSS program next year.
Later Murphy
Come on down Richard. As far as fuzzy math you are right. I still say it should be the bigger car count should get the bigger payout. Either way I plan on being there. Maybe if we (the bottom of the food chain footbrakers) get a real nice car count the track will pad the pot a little.
The other bracket race they hosted was 1/8 mile I would guess this will be 1/8 mile. Maybe they will answer on here to let everyone know, if its 1/4 I will have to leave mine at home. Plan on changing rear gears next year so I can be a RPR regular. Tired of looking for a track with a decent program, RPR in my opinion has the best at this time.
Paul Smith
Hey Paul. Thanks for asking it will be raced on 1/8 mile as I know that all or most all the racers are set up for just that . I'm glad they have listen to me on some of this and will take this discusion to them about the purse I really am hopeful they will see a larger turn out and rethink the pay out it can be adjusted at race time . Thanks to all of you in advance for being the best of the best racers I'm honored to be your friend.
Thanks for the response Gary looking forward to it. Always like racing at Lonestar lots of good memories. Thanks for helping put this together. Now how about talking them into a team for bracket finals in Crandall I know there are a few interested racers.
lol I know wishful thinking!
Again thanks Gary
"Not to stir up anything" but, in the No Electronics class can we use a transbrake BUT NO delay box?,...Ya know, old school , leave off bottom bulb? I sure would like to come on down and give it a try!
In the no box class ist no trans brake or delay box all foot brake. If you want run box class and use the trans brake only no delay box . Thanks we would really like to see you there .
Thanks Abe its alawys such a treat to have you and the family out . Please give Moma chica abig hug for me ! Kim says hi she will be at the fuel shack working so when you come go by and see her! Our love to all
Ok guys I put the word in and the track prep will be stellar we will have "richie the best starter in the world" and "the voice" todd waites and I will be running the b ack side . Now here is the best part I had a long conversation with Bob the track manager he's going to bat for us and will press for a bracket series that Jack R. And I have been talking about we are going to run it 2 times. a month during our normal hours and we will have first round buy backs too. If the car count is great for the 23rd it will be a bonus for us okay I'm going to push for this really hard to make it work . Those of you who think we have. Issues with track prep we need to talk because I will make sure it won't. Be one I promise ! Thanks to all
I had asked Bob about that and it had to do with the sponser for the race ! I told Bob we need to try and get more than 1 sponser for any future races to increase the purse . He said marketing that he will see if we or I can get that done for future races . Another note the concession stand is under new management --- bring your own food please , take my word bring your own food they are "yankees" ! :{ :{ :{ *
Hey Gary,...Seems some old hands are driving in from Victoria (Abe Torres) and some others racers and "we" were all talking about having a little reunion at the track. Here is my question,
"With 2 tech cards and buy backs the chances are it will be a late night,..will we be able to stay at the track and head out in the morning?"
Iim sure that won't be a problem at all ! I will double check with Bob today and make sure . I really appreciate all of you that will be attending , many thanks to all of you. Yes a reunion would be so awesome does anybody know if the Tallys are coming or Clark Barker . What about the White Bros. Or maybe the Rutelands ,Nelson ,Meyers . And the rest of all you. That used to come we welcome you with open arms it would make this a Classic race. Thank you guys all of you !
I will be there on the 23 and so will Clark, the Tallys and George Lap will be there with bells on ready to race. Can't wait to go downn the Lone Star dragway one more time
Hey folks just got through talking to Bob he said we are very happy to have you all and it would be our honor to have you stay overnight , will not be a problem ! :} Thanks
I too have a long way to go in an effort get home after a long night. It would be great if we could stay and leave in the AM. 3+ hrs. the first few not so bad the last one ??. see all on the 23rd.
Keith
Glad to have you all come out and yes it will be ok to stay over and leave next day . Please can I have somebody talk to mike Blair its not going to b a complete reunion if he doesn't show up for this , the Orange Krush will be missed if he decides not to come play . Please ! Another crew to show is Brader Boys does any body know if they are coming and what about the San Antonio gang let's get them all out too. Hey Rick Mortemer "first love" bring it on . Ok thanks guys .
No as we are only going to be open for that day of the race we will have a session of open T n T. Ok. I will ask Bob if they might consider it . Thanks
SO just so we are clear...since we plan on attending this event...the payout for mod is $500 and if you double tech then it will cost EACH racer $100 to go for that $500.!.!.! Track makes payout with the first 5 cars that double tech!!!!!Lets just say there are 25 cars...25 cars x $100 each (if they buy 2 cards)= $2500.00?!?!?! That means the track just POCKETED $2000.00 WITHOUT ANY BUYBACKS INCLUDED!!! Anyone else see the issue i am having with this!?! Seems like the track would be willing to make it a little better than $500 purse IMO! Not that we aren't coming but DEFINITELY took away ANY chance of us buying a second tech card!!!
I agree on payout and will probably only buy 1 tech card myself for that reason. This not a knock at anyone but total payouts in top are $1800.00 and footbrake is $1100.00 with entry fees both being $50.00 just dont add up to me. I will be there to see old friends though. Guess I could leave car at home and just bring ice chest full of beer .
I here ya Paul I dont know if I will come yet @ 335 miles round trip @ 10 mpg and diesel is going up every day, so say 3.92x34=$133, race fuel $54.00, enter race $50.00......=$237.00 food etc. for the day 25=262.if you make it to the final and split 350-262=88.00...........what did I leave off. lol....You have to love to race!!!
Paul,
I've always took it we were racing for the sport & pride of competition. When I just so happen to win every now & then, the money is just a bonus!! I don't think many of us could make a living at bracket racing, except maybe the "Footbrakin Fool".
I understand about the payout and the size of the purse. I just want to let you know it has to do with the sponser of the race ok. Just to let you know that we are in the discussion of having a bracket team with a place to race 2-times a month and to have a team go to the bracket finals for LoneStar . Hopeful that the powers that be will let us fulfill our dreams of being at LoneStar again. I will work with Bob to do the marketing to create more sponsers for future races to have larger payout / purse so that we can all benefit from the races . I will work with Jack R. On all the details so we can do the points and all the fees ok . Thanks guys and gals.
OK my fellow bracket racers, lets try and make this race a success. Gary has worked hard to try and get a regular bracket series back at Lone Star. Our support may make or break our chance of having a IHRA series there for 2012.
I am looking forward to going back to LSR, win or lose, I'm gonna be doing what I love, racing and hanging out with my friends.
David you are correct about making a living doing this, not happening! Gary I do appreciate what your doing and am excited about racing at Lonestar and seeing old friends. Its not about the money really, heck it could be a charity race its just the fact that with entry being same in both classes the payout should be same. No hard feelings I am just choosing to run 1 tech card because of the payout structure.
Ok guys and gals here's my say ! If they realize what they have as far as car count they may rethink the pay out and adjust it accordingly in the end we will all benifit. I'm. Really glad even with just the one sponser ,if we get others to take notice the benifits of this race it may open some doors for us to new and bigger sponsers . Hell we could get one of those $25 grand race . Thanks to all.
Rodney Who you calling an OLD hand you young whippersnapper. Just make sure to bring a beach towel or something to cover up in case you decide to take a shower in the cooldown area like old times hehe.
Thanks Jack he just had called and asked for your # , I told you all that these people are starting to realize that they can't go wrong if they start thinking about how much we go out of our way to compete in racing and the dedication you all have when you comit to this sport and the tracks . I had mentioned the fees and the payout miss match so they are listening to us . A big thanks goes out to you guys that spoke up and to Bob for hearing me . Thats awesome !
