UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

Gary Espinoza and I met yesterday , Jan. 18th to discuss the Summit bracket program proposal to be shown to Lone Star Motorsports park management. We both feel that there is still a very good chance that this is going to happen .

Gary is to meet with Bob Key this week to go over the program once again, we both realize we have to act on this very soon and we are waiting for LSMP to release their 2012 schedule.

I also spoke with IHRA div 4 director Frank Kouhtek yesterday and he thought it was a good idea and would like to see a team from LSMP in 2012. As I said, I think this is going to work one way or another, so stay tuned for more details as I get them.

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

Jack,

What is needed to make it happen?

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

All we need from you the Racers is to participate and remember to register for the Summit Super Series , we have worked out the points -- Jack will post the point system we will use here on this sight and I will have weekly up dates on a leader board posted at the track snack bar and bottom floor of the tower will also have them with me at the tech box to give out. We are going to really shine and show our true colors they will open there eyes and see how great this will be!

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

Gary when will this be a for sure deal with a schedule? Has the track already agreed to this?

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

It's going to happen, spoke with Bob Key today. Looks like first points race will be Saturday, Feb. 25th. We are still working on the schedule and hoping for 6-8 races and possible two Iron Man races. Gary and I will be working with Bob this week to finalize the schedule, we will schedule LSMP point races around Royal Purple points schedule.

I will post schedule and all IHRA rules on my site and LSMP will post on their site as well. This is going to be a good thing for us racers and LSMP both, stay tuned for more info .

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

This is great news. We sure appreciate all the effort Jack and Gary put forth to make this happen. We are already signed up for the IHRA SSS so lets go racing people!!!

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

This is good news! I'm gonna have to get down there for some of those races. It would be awesome to be on LSMP's team. I'd even call it an honor. Thanks to Jack and Gary for all the leg work they have done.

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

Looking forward to it, thanks to Jack and Gary for all the hard work. Appreciate it.

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

Great news for sure. Looking forward to racing at Lonestar again.

Will not be able to make Feb. 25th (State Wrestling Tournament) but will be at rest of the races.

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

We will be there ! it's been a long road to get racing back at Lone Star,, cant say enough for the effort given by Gary and Jack.

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

We will try to be there. Hoping for the best.

Sometimes (OK, once) I wish we still lived in Katy.

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

So, is this a lock? a sure thing? This is gonna happen?........OR are we still negotiating?....like Joe Friday says,,,,"Just the facts please?",

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

We are for sure having a bracket program points and related schedule is being worked on now . All info will be post here and on LoneStars web site . We are really excited because iam working on some sponsers and we are going to have a team for the bracket finals . Jack and I will be keeping up with points and postings will be updated event to event - they will be posted at the snack bar , bottom floor of the tower and with me at the tech box. So there you have it we are dedicated to all of you and are proud to have this back where it belongs "LoneStarMotorSports Park".

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

Good, not much up on running at hrp. Can't handle the two day deal unless it's the finals. :)

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

I spoke with Bob Key today (1/26), he was working on the schedule as were speaking. I also talked to Sherrie Barbour at IHRA, and she is forwarding the Summit Super Series contract to Bob this week. I would say these are some pretty hard facts !!!!

Jack

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

Just a little update on the bracket series at Lone Star. The schedule is made up to the month of May at this time, tentative dates are Feb.25th, Mar.24th, April 14th and May 12th & 13th. These races will be Summit Super Series races, so you must be a paid IHRA member, have your X number, and claim LSMP as your home track BEFORE you can earn any points . There is at least two Iron Man races on the schedule this season.. I've been on the phone with Bob Key, general mgr. of LSMP nearly daily going over details, I've also contacted Sherrie Barbour of IHRA and she is sending the SSS contract to Bob. Frank Kouhtek, the IHRA div. 4 director was pleased to hear the news and will add LSMP to the team finals line up for this year. This is where Gary and I stand at this time, we will post all new info asap on my website, www.bracketrash.net as well as LSMP home page.

The future for us bracket racers is looking good , all we need to do is support the SSS at Lonestar this year...talk to you soon.

Jack

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

Jack, You have the April race on the same weekend of the Thunder Road ProAm. Might be a conflict for some.

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

Calling IHRA monday and have them put me down for Lonestar!!!!! Thanks Jack & Gary

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

I'm working with the track to not schedule over any races in our area, so far the IHRA race in Shreveport is the only one. It's gonna be hard not to over lap some, but the weekend bracket racers are the main ones who are gonna be out there every race I hope. Between NHRA/IHRA divional and nationals, we may have to over lap some, I hope not and I'm trying not to do that I promise. It looks like we may have 6-8 races this year, we want to keep the racers happy and I want the track mgn. happy as well so they will stay with us for the long run..

Jack

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

So what's with declaring a 'Home Track'. Is IHRA only going to let you run for points at one track? Seems like that would keep folks from racing at multiple IHRA tracks. Obviously for the finals you pick one team to race with but it's nice to have options during the season. Hopefully I'm wrong about this.

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

You can run all the IHRA tracks you want for points, but you must claim only one track for your summit series points. Your home track will be the track that you get SSS points for.

Just remember , you must be a paid IHRA member, have a X number issued to you ($10 extra ) and at that time claim the track you will be running for, and you are not allowed to change tracks at mid year. Hope that all made sense.

Quit ******** Bobby and take the kid to the drags.............

Thanks for the advice Matt. But I'm not towing the trailer 150 miles just to take her home. She will be there saturday with us.

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

Ok so are the SSS points are just for track champion, or is it also for Bracket Finals? In other words could you run at the Bracket Finals for a track that wasn't your 'Home Track'?

EXAMPLE....

You can only run for one track at the team finals. If you win the SSS at your home track (A), you have to rep that track.

Now if you run another track (B) and Quilify for team finals you have to make your choice, but you can't use track (B) for SSS points.

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

Thanks Jack. I appreciate you taking the time to explain.

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

Step #1: ( HOW IT WORKS)
• Join the IHRA Summit SuperSeries ($60) which includes IHRA membership benefits, Summit
SuperSeries license then request a special registration number (commonly called the X Number).
The second digit of the number will be the letter X. This competition membership will allow
you to participate in the Summit Super Series at your home track.
• If you are running a car in top and another car in modified, you must register and get X numbers
for both vehicles.
• If you have a full membership in IHRA that will be current through the 2012 season already,
simply call and register for your competition or X number for free.
Step #2
• Sign up for the track points at your participating IHRA Summit SuperSeries track.
Step #3
• Race at your local IHRA track while running your Summit SuperSeries X number. Your Summit
SuperSeries eligibility does not begin until you register with IHRA AND run the X number as your
car number at your home track. Your X number must show up on your home track points page
all year long. Failure to run the X number on your car will make you ineligible for the Summit
Super Series even if you have a registered X number on file with IHRA.
Step #4
• Become the Summit SuperSeries Champion as determined by your track (see your home
track for details on the method they use to determine the championship as each track may be
different). You will then get to run off at your team finals for the right to go to the Summit Super
Series National Championships at the World Finals in 2012.
Participant Guidelines
• Summit SuperSeries points will not begin until you are registered with Both IHRA and your
local track.
• Racers in Top, Mod, Super and Bike are eligible.
• Participants may NOT change car number or class after running their first SSS event.
• A racer may compete for the Summit SuperSeries track championship at more than one track.
Should one racer win the SSS championship at two different tracks, they will have to declare the
track he will represent prior to the team finals. A racer is not eligible to double enter at the same
team finals or world championship runoff.
• IHRA/Feld Motorsports employees, team members, staff and IHRA track owners/operators/
managers are not eligible.
• 2011 IHRA TOC World Champions and NHRA World Champions are not eligible.
• “Gifted Rounds” are not permitted. Racers receiving ‘dives’ or ‘gifted’ rounds as determined
solely by IHRA will be disqualified

Re: UPDATE ON LONESTAR RACEWAY BRACKET SERIES FOR 2012

Pretty sure both IHRA and Summit Super Series decals must be displayed on both sides of car also to be eligible for SSS points.

Looking forward to running at Lonestar again.
