charging systems ? aeromotive fuel pumps?

how many of yall regular bracket racers use an alternator vrs 2 batteries or both?also how many use Aeromotive fuel pumps?trying some new things on my car to see if i can up the reliablity of my car for repeated rounds.my 2nd blue pump went out after only 1 season of racing so i bought a Aeromotive ss pump(its what the company recomended)the magnets broke loose on the motor for the blue pump.this almost cost me a win last weekend.just cant take the chance of that happening again.luckily a fellow racer loaned me one just in time to make the next round.im also adding a alternator to keep things charged up.has anyone picked up there performance by adding a charging system?talk to me guys i need the help and sound advise.

Re: charging systems ? aeromotive fuel pumps?

Run an alternator. I have 2 batteries and an alt. My neighbor runs an Aeromotive but hasn't run it long enough to find out how well it works. The more you can keepyour voltage up, the better.

Re: charging systems ? aeromotive fuel pumps?

I always use an alternator. It makes it a lot more reliable.

Re: charging systems ? aeromotive fuel pumps?

i use two optima batts and a 100 amp alt. I charge them before race day , overnite @ 2amps. and never use a charger all weekend. my voltage starts at 12.7 and by the end of the race is about 12.4... as far as fuel pumps i've used the (1)mallory 180 gph wimpy pump, but they never failed in 5-6 years,, i try and keep it simple..

Re: charging systems ? aeromotive fuel pumps?

I use two batteries without an alternator, but I'm going to put one back on this year. I kept throwing belts on the LUV is why I took it off, but the Duster didn't have one on it. I usually charge the batteries between rounds. I use a Mallory 140 pump. I bought a "blue" pump as a spare. I put it on to run it for a while and it only lasted about a month before the magnets came loose. The Duster had a Mallory 140 and I kept the one from the LUV for a spare, but the Mallory has never given me any problems. (also going to put a volt meter on the car to keep check of the batteries better)

I also have an alternator. I have gone to only one Optima red top battery, before I had 2 Champion 900 cca batteries. I've had good luck with my MagnaFuel Pro Star 500 fuel pump. I had a BG 280 & it didn't las a year. BG has a seal/bearing problem with a lot of their pumps. That's my 2 cents worth!
