Lonestar "Super" Brackets

My apologies if this has already been posted, but I wanted everyone to see what Sealy has planned. This is a copy/paste of what is on their website:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

LONESTAR MOTORSPORTS IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE 2006 “LONESTAR SUPER BRACKET SERIES!”

Things are really coming together at Lonestar Motorsports Park (LMP). There are so many exciting things going on at the track it’s hard to know where to start! We are in the final stages of getting everything organized to begin the quarter mile extension. Weekly racing will continue during the construction phase and we will keep you up to date on all the construction!

A lot of talk is circulating on the status of the 2006 bracket racing season at Lone Star, not only among the racers but with on our side as well. Our number one goal and philosophy is to do it once and do it right. First of all, Lonestar Motorsports Park (LMP) will be an IHRA sanctioned track. We are pleased with the programs IHRA has to offer and are happy to be a part of the IHRA family again this season. With that said, we are really excited to announce the plan for the LONESTAR BRACKET SUPER SERIES! Nothing like this program has ever been hosted by any other track in the area. There will be 8 points races held over 4 weekends. This will also help with the traveling expenses for the racers and crewmembers! Also, overnight camping at these events is free. Lonestar will also participate in the ET Bracket Finals, Weekly Contingency program, and the IHRA Summit Points World Champion Series. Not only will track points be awarded both days, the Weekly Contingency and the Summit World Championship Points will also be awarded both days.

I wanted to make sure to give the time, dedication and staffing requirements needed to do a bracket program right. Therefore, Glen and Dee Brabham will be heading up the effort for these eight events and the bracket finals to design, promote and run the events for us. They ran a very good bracket program over the past 10 years and I appreciate their input and value their expertise. Having this exposure will help us be better prepared for the next season.

We want these events to be good races, fun for the racers, crew members and spectators; have an attractive purse; and give all of us a chance to meet. Please note the race date: April 8-9, June 10-11, July 22-23, and August 12-13. These dates are not conflicting with any area tracks schedule. There will be a Bracket Final Warm Up date set in September. Information will be out very soon so stay tuned. I have already mentioned several positive things about these eight events, now let me ‘show you the money.’ Each race will have a larger purse than most weekly track payout. The winner’s purse for Electronics will be $2500 each day, No Electronics will pay $1000 each day, and Junior Dragsters will pay $300 each day. So mark your calendars for these four weekends!

I truly appreciate all the patronage, support and patience that you have extended to me and my staff. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email me at LonestarMP@aol.com or contact my office at 713-466-3420. We are always glad to hear from you! Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you at LMP soon!

Best regards,

John Hennessey

Re: Lonestar "Super" Brackets

gee, no street stock, it looks like for any area track...

Re: Lonestar "Super" Brackets

it will be OK Tommy hahaha LOL.

Re: Lonestar "Super" Brackets

sorry Eric, this is not Tommy, just another of the toiling masses without a ride....

Re: Lonestar "Super" Brackets

Actually, to be absolutely correct (as opposed to being politically correct which is having something to do with politics...)when LSR closed in mid 2005 or whenever it was, Tommy was in the points lead in Street Stock, so technically, he won S/S in 2005 at LSR, there just was nobody to give out the awards. Congrats again Tom (you know who this is...)

Actually, polically correct is like jumbo shrimp, an oxymoron. lol

Re: Lonestar "Super" Brackets

sorry it just sounded like Tommy.Tommy is a buddy of mine also.and yes he did get screwed over on the points deal.but what do you do ????.it does look like someone is trying out there.this new bracket deal looks pretty good.we will be making some of these races.the money is just to good to pass up.$$$$$$$$$

Re: Lonestar "Super" Brackets

Tommy and I go back about 5 years, I used to race at LSR before the SS Points game came in. I have a "vehicle" that I used to race with the 4-cylinder, actually won SS at the IHRA Divisional Final in Nov-2001. I beat Noel Mc and Charles Noland that night. I ran out of funding before my 302 engine swap materialized, so I'm selling the whole deal, not any extra financial opportunities in the near future, so I'm basically giving up. Anyway, that's my story, but I'll remain annonomous. In the movie The Replacements, there was a phrase that was said to Shane Falco, "You're not even a has been, you're a never was." Kinda my life story. Good luck to all and have a great race season.
