Jack,
We don't know who or how to get in touch with anyone at Angleton and considering moving Lonestar's August date. HRP, to this date, still shows only a Jr. event on both the June 10th date and the August 12th date, no listing of an O'Reilly Points Race. However, racers are telling us that their web site is incorrect and there is a bracket race, like there was on the first date. We tried to put a schedule out that didn't conflict, as best we could, with any other track. This is difficult at best to accomplish. If we move the date in August, we don't want to step on Angleton's toes. I went to their web site this morning and nothing is posted on their "schedule" page for any more bracket races except for the April 29th date. Could you email me and let me know if this date works. We are on deadline for APN today and I'm trying to get this handled for John. Thanks!
Dee, I can understand not wanting conflicting race dates but please take into consideration that some of us have scheduled vacation per the original schedule. I know changes must take place sometimes and there is no getting around that but just like when we race CONSISTENCY is the key.
Thanks,
Abe
Abe,
I understand about moving dates. It was a nightmare for 10 years. Angleton didn't have their complete schedule posted so I asked Jack to email me what he knew. Looks like the 26th won't work as they have a race.
Just took some shots from some Houston racers and we are trying to do the best to make everyone happy. Lonestar isn't trying to book races on top of other tracks ... just the opposite. But we are on top of 2 Houston races as misinformation was and is still posted on their schedule page.
Dee yall are doing a great job!!!!! You will never make everyone happy! But one thing for sure I know where I will be and that will be at Lonestar for the Bracket Super Series best payouts in the Houston area.
Thanks Dee, We will do everything we can to continue to support Lonestar. This is the first time since Lonestar opened that I was assured of attending every race and we were really excited about that. With the way I started the season it probably won't matter much anyway. As far as the car, I am amazed at how little damage there was. I have been doing a very thorough examination to make sure all is well. Looks like the only damage was to the left header and Brake pedal and both have been repaired. Contrary to what some of my track buddys said; an air freshener will not be required haha.
Hey guys,
Spread the word about the races. The bracket race scene is new to John and the purse is pretty strong for both days. We know we can always count on the loyal racers. Getting back involved was a big decision for Glen and I. I definately don't miss the business side of this business (especially this scheduling business!) but we did miss the people that we met over the last 10 years! Again, thanks for your support of the track.
Guys thanks for supporting the Lonestar Super Bracket Series. This deal was the total brain child of Glen and Dee. And I was smart enough to believe in it. And thanks to all of you who make bracket racing the best at Lonestar! We had some really great cars, great races and great people at the last event. And I look to see the car count double at the next 3 events. With over $10,000 paid out over 2 days plus a great time had by all, its one of the best weekend programs in the country!
Again, thanks to all you loyal bracket racers for coming and supporting YOUR and OUR event. Special thanks to Glen and Dee for "temporarily" coming out of retirement. Yall mean a great deal to me and I am deeply appreciative of all you do for Lonestar and the racers.
We brought back some flyers and we have been spreading them out around our area. We should have more enries from the Victoria area next time out. I know Bob Wenske and Donald Adcock missed the last one because of the Pro-Am at Pinevalley. Bob's daughter Paige has been doing an outstanding job in Jr. dragster. She now has two iron men to her credit. Donald has beautiful new roadster and he is anxious to put some laps on it. Michael should have the old "Racko" chevelle ready pretty soon. From what I've seen so far, I think the bracket TEAM will be tough to beat at the Bracket Finals. Bringing the title back to Lonestar would be an excellent way to reward John for supporting the bracket racers. Having Glen and Dee run the bracket program was the smartest move he could have made.
It's funny the things you remember. Remember Daddy always referred to Glen as the blaberhammer. And at the banquet several years ago when the song "she thinks my tractor's sexy" when the picture of him on the tractor came up.
You know ... he does have a rather large hat size. Maybe you guys are on to something that I havent' seen in almost 19 years or marriage.
We had a great time, I was driving the primered '65 Dodge in No Elect. We are pretty new to the area used to run at Byron in Illinois and Wisconsin International. We also had the Maroon '63 Nova in Electronics. I have been telling everyone I know in the San Antonio area how much fun we had and I think I'm bringing a few more racers w/ me to the next bracket bash.

Well you can count on us this second race for sure!! We've came out several Fridays to test and get car ready for these races. Car ran best pass it has ever made on the 21st. Get all the bugs fixed and I thjink the ole hooptie will run good and be consistent as well. rooking forward to actually racing in an elimination round, testing or just going to track period is fun but nothing better than competition. Mom and Dad are FIRED up about going racing this year and so are my brother and I. Gideon Family Racing is ready to go.
