MERCY, does that bring back a few memories... If memory serves me right, doesn't "Mr.Bardahl" Bill Heilscher own the racetrack at Kennedale, after selling Amarillo Dragway a few years ago? I'll bet he's got some photos of GVR! Thanks for sharing that website!

Jack, you need to take pic's of what use to be the old Houston International Raceway. You live close. Wonder if you have some from when it was open? I don't, was to young to own a camera back then,LOL.

I lived in League City from 1990 until last year when I bought my house in Spring. I saw the remnents of Houston Intl. Raceway decay and finally get plowed under in the last few years. It now is a housing area called Victory Lakes and the only access is on FM 646, just east of I45 Gulf Fwy. I don't think there's much to photograph anymore except houses, it's going up rapidly. Happy racing!

The score board ples were still there until about a year ago along with remanents of the track. Of course it was only 5 feet wide with all the weeds. we lived in Newport from 66 till 98 and now I live in Dickinson. There is supposed to be a Wal-mart built on the corner. The houses are off the freeway about 1/4 mile. I use to race there just about every wednesday night. To have it back sure would save me a lot of money not having to drive 30 plus miles,LOL.

the only racing there will be in the wal- mart parking lot!!! I lived one exit away from there (exit 21).. this area is exploding with new housing, and opening soon, my favorite place to eat, Chiles !!!!!!
