DONT SHOP AT CITGO!!!

Venezuela Dictator Vows To Bring Down U.S. Government

Venezuela government is sole owner of Citgo gasoline company

Venezuela Dictator Hugo Chavez has vowed to bring down the U.S. government. Chavez, president of Venezuela, told a TV audience : "Enough of imperialist aggression; we must tell the world: down with the U.S. empire. We have to bury imperialism this century." The guest on his television program, beamed across Venezuela, was Cindy Sheehan, the antiwar activist. Chavez recently had as his guest Harry Belafonte, who called President Bush "the greatest terrorist in the world." Chavez is pushing a socialist revolution and has a close alliance with Cuban dictator Fidel Castro. Regardless of your feelings about the war in Iraq, the issue here is that we have a socialist dictator vowing to bring down the government of the U.S. And he is using our money to achieve his goal! The Venezuela government, run by dictator Chavez, is the sole owner of Citgo gas company. Sales of products at Citgo stations send money back to Chavez to help him in his vow to bring down our government.

Take Action

Please decide that you will not be shopping at a Citgo station. Why should U.S. citizens who love freedom be financing a dictator who has vowed to take down our government?

Very important. Please forward this to your friends and family. Most of them don't know that Citgo is owned by the Venezuela government.

YOU CAN VERIFY THIS ON THE CITGO WEB PAGE.

Re: DONT SHOP AT CITGO!!!

Socialist dictator?? Since when? Chavez was ELECTED in 1998 by the people of Venezuela. Venezuela is a democracy, not a dictatorship. Try understanding world politics and economics before you forward along your chain letters. BTW, your "quote" was from January, so it's old news to those of us with a TV. And it was shortly after Pat Robertson suggested we should assassinate him. Also, as you can see from the very link you provided, although Citgo may be owned by Petróleos de Venezuela, it is a formerly American company which is still headquartered in the U.S. (in Houston, Texas), employs 4,000 people, and supplies 14,000 independent retailers with gasoline and other petroleum products — Americans with no substantive connection to Venezuela who would be economically harmed by such an action. And, of course, as long as the global demand for oil exceeds supply, Citgo's products will continue to find buyers whether or not they're purchased by Americans. Interestingly, this Citgo boycott rumbling follows on the heels of a similarly-forwarded entreaty urging consumers to take the opposite tack: Americans should buy only Citgo brand gasoline, it says, in order to support "Venezuela's democratic government" and avoid sending more U.S. dollars to Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries. But you probably forwarded that piece of garbage to "all your friends" too, didn't you?

Re: DONT SHOP AT CITGO!!!

aight dude you need to chill and when you are 18 years old and dont watch those kind of tv shows yea i dont really know much about politics, but when this was first posted it ****** me off as an american and i wanted to tell everyone that i could, i didnt know that 2 people owned it and i didnt really care so if that displeased you i really dont give a crap

Re: DONT SHOP AT CITGO!!!

hey ****** off racer maybe you should learn more about politics because you made your self sound stupid. bill is right we should buy from citgo and support other countries rather than middle eastern countries. only middle eastern countries are dumb enough to attack us because of their radical beliefs. venezuela do not have the balls to come mess with us. they are smarter than some *******es int he middle east who wipe their asses with their hands....they seen what happened to japan when they tried to take the US out. i'm only 20 and i am heavily into politics because it is import to know what is going on. the country is going to hell and the world see's us destroying ourselves and all they have to do is sit back and watch. OH AND LEAVE A REAL NAME WHEN YOUR ARE GOING TO TELL SOMEONE YOU DO NOT GIVE A **** IF YOU HAVE DISPLEASED THEM.

Re: DONT SHOP AT CITGO!!!

remember a guy named noreaga,
thanks to gerold ford we cant assinate heads of states
or atleast remove them from power , sadam is a good example, remove him and plant him with noreaga and the rest of the small countries will think twice about jacking with the U.S.A.

Re: DONT SHOP AT CITGO!!!

What displeases me is people believing everything they read on the internet as fact. Yes, Chavez hates America. Name one OPEC nation that doesn't. We run an oil deficit, so we rely on OPEC countries to deliver us oil. There's only one way to "boycot" all the a-holes, and that is to reduce consumption. Gasoline is a fungible commodity. There's really no way to choose who you're buying from at any particular time. If you really want to do something about it, try carpooling or combining trips. Or walking. Reducing consumption is the only real way to send LESS money to people who hate us.

Re: DONT SHOP AT CITGO!!!

aight guys i am the one who posted this at first and i only posted that because somebody else posted it on the ARP message board. i should have read through the whole thing and clicked on the link before i posted it. The only reason i posted that was i got very angry as an american. I am 18 and i dont know much about politics. I dont watch fox news, cnn or any of that. But i posted that so that everyone else could feel the hatred i feel for every country that has wanted to destroy us. We are the greatest nation in the world and there is no reason to get hot under the collar about something just because it is old news. If i am wrong for being immediatly ****** off then well i am content being wrong.

Re: DONT SHOP AT CITGO!!!

Well Bill I just moved back from Venzuela last year after working for a major oil company. You are right it is a democracy there and he won a fair election. You failed to tell every one that all the educated folks such as teachers, oil workers, air line pilots etc. who voted against him are baned for life from holding any of these types of jobs, there bank acounts were emptyed, and there children were kicked out of public schools. This is a fact and at least i know what i am talking about.

Re: DONT SHOP AT CITGO!!!

Thank you Robert. Well, I was kind of hoping this guy would call me on MY BS, but I guess anything beyond copying and pasting is too much work. Some people would rather just be mad at the world than actually do a little reading to see if what they're posting is true.

Re: DONT SHOP AT CITGO!!!

Anyone who doesn't think Venezuela will make a major tacticle play against the U.S. in the next 5-10 years needs to put down the crack pipe. They will destroy us, or at least assist in our destruction the first opportunity they get, regardless of what it does to their oil revenue. Don't paint the picture of this happy democracy just because the people "elected" Chavez. If memory serves me correct, Hussein got 98% of the vote from the Iraqi people, so an election doesn't mean sh*t.

Re: DONT SHOP AT CITGO!!!

Nobody said Venezuela wouldn't attack the US if they had the opportunity. And no one is implying that it is a "happy" democracy. My point was that boycotting Citgo or any oil company because it comes from a country that hates the US is just stupid. Name one OPEC country that doesn't hate the US! By your logic, you should not buy any gas! Chavez's remarks are a drop in the bucket, my friend. If you're all ****** off because of that, you've got a long way to go. Take a look around, I bet youu can't count how many items in your house came from China. How soon we forget.
