Officers Planning Raid On Houston Raceway Park!
Law Enforcement officers and Firefighters from throughout North America are planning to raid Houston Raceway Park on September 15th and 16th. The purpose of the event is to determine who will be the 2006 Beat The Heat World Champion and to educate the public about the issues and dangers surrounding illegal street racing.
To set the pace of the week racers will visit the Shriners Children’s Burn Center at the University of Texas Medical Center in Galveston on Thursday, September 14th. Later that day the Beat The Heat teams will be on display on the beach at 4600 Seawall on Galveston Island from 4PM to 8PM.
On Friday the teams will have their annual business meeting and election of officers. The teams will then travel to Houston Raceway Park. The event will begin with a Top-Cop challenge between local Chiefs, Sheriffs and Constables. This will be a Take To The Track media promo. That evening the teams will begin preparing for the race.
On Saturday the BTH teams will get several time trials to determine their class, Pro-Cop, Mod-Cop or Street-Cop. The winners of Pro-Cop and Mod-Cop will challenge for the championship title.

Special Thanks to Gerald and Scott at HRP and Craig at NHRA for helping to make this happen!
Great organization and a great bunch of guys. I saw in today's Brazosport Facts an article about the Brazoria County Sheriff's Dept. building a '70 Chevelle to run with the "Beat the Heat" guys. They work hard to get the safety message out, and I appreciate their efforts.
