Temple this weekend ( we are getting a new website)

SOrry for the website. We are currently redoing the website so it has been down for a few days. Should be sometime this week when it will be done. This weekend we are having the Resceduled $2500 to win in Mod and Top on Sunday and $400 to win in jrs.

Re: Temple this weekend ( we are getting a new website)

Ok...in the other thread there people talking about you guys writing hot checks to the racers, and I have heard the site is down because you didn't pay for the hosting (not because it is being redone). Also, when you redo a site unless something is really wrong there should be little if any downtime. Why would you come on here promoting your race, and expect anyone to show when it's obvious your full of crap? What a mess.

Re: Temple this weekend ( we are getting a new website)

Kirk, is the track open during the week for tnt?

Re: Temple this weekend ( we are getting a new website)

people like to talk alot of crap and if you are going to believe it then its your own problem. We pay with cash now so all the little rumors cant be spread anymore. And about the website.... there is a different person doing the website now until sometime this week call the track number.

Re: Temple this weekend ( we are getting a new website)

if you would like you can come and test n tune Saturday night, we might have a small gamblers race along with the factory street cars.

Re: Temple this weekend ( we are getting a new website)

Guys, don't know about ALL of the spin, but I can tell you that if you try to log into the website, instead of getting the "page not found" message you get a "temporarily unavailable" message from a different host.

I don't know the particulars, but I DO know Kirk. He has always been Honest, period.

We know Temple is having some problems, so go or don't go there, but don't jump on Kirk. He is a racer like us!

If Kirk says Linda is paying cash, then that fixes one reported problem.

I can't comment on the website host change, but that may be highly likely. The best thing to do is call Linda, see number in other thread, and ask her the tough questions. If you like what you hear go race, if not don't.

Sorry to be so brunt!

Re: Temple this weekend ( we are getting a new website)

I don't know Kirk, but I would imagine unless you are part of the management, then you probably don't know the real deal. There has absolutely been a BIG problem with people getting bad checks from Temple. So don't talk like it's all a bunch of rumor and gossip. Should I start listing names of people that have gotten them? Should I tell them about this message board and have them join in on the conversation? I don't care if she did make them good. Why should there even be a question. If you switch to cash, then that will help. But it may be too little too late.

Re: Temple this weekend ( we are getting a new website)

I probably shouldn't comment any more on this deal. It's been a long time since I've been there. It was more of a health issue than anything else.

I do know Kirk and stand by my statement of opinion that he is as straight up as they come. With that said, I don't really have a dog in this fight. I started the other thread looking for info.

My guess is everything that is being said about problems at the track is true. Looks like they are trying to fix their problems. I am not one of Linda's biggest fans, but I don't think she would purposely write hot check and still try to attract racers. I'm not trying to defend everything, but maybe there is another side to the story.

I remember Alamo Dragway. They had the perfect system. They would set up at the pit gate after the races with cash and a security guard. They'd verify your social security number, then write you a check and have you endorse it back to them and hand you cash money. I thought it was a good way to keep track of the payout.

Wow have I gotten off topic! Guys the best deal is to call Linda. If you are satisfied with what you are told, go support the track. If not, don't go!

Re: Temple this weekend ( we are getting a new website)

I am a big part in Managment there. I am very upfront with racers because I am one my self. We are trying our best to make a bigger and better bracket series in Texas. Gas prices are going down so come out and see if you can hang with some of the tough racers at Temple Raceway.

Re: Temple this weekend ( we are getting a new website)

..been there, done that!

Got treated like "out of town crap".

Was told it does "no good for out of town racers to come and beat our local racers".

To which I replied, YOU ADVERTISED IT ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB, if you only want "local racers" then try advertising in the "TEMPLE PAPER" and not on the WWW.

Wont go back....Ever, Far too many LOCAL tracks that know HOW to treat dedicated racers.

Re: Temple this weekend ( we are getting a new website)

I actually live closer to Temple than other tracks, but it's just not worth it to put up with all the garbage. Tommy you aren't the only one that has felt that way and been treated in that manner. I've been treated that way, and other racers I know have been as well. When Linda first took it back over, I remember how some of the racers (local favorites as you mentioned) were talking about how different she was now, and how much she had changed since the last time she had the place. I have to say, at first she did seem different. She was pleasant, she was respectful, and it really seemed very promising. But that didn't last long, and it was a short time before she started treating people exactly as you mentioned. Who knows what the cause was. Maybe she just doesn't enjoy it, maybe she grew tired of it, or maybe she's mad that she can't draw the same big crowds. No matter what, it sucks for everyone. I think the other thread started to show some of the fond memories that many people have of Little River. Too bad those days are gone.

Re: Temple this weekend ( we are getting a new website)

Kirk, since you seem to be a part of the management at Temple and so "up front with the racers", maybe you can answer me this: Why was this race promoted as being 'guaranteed' $2,500 to win, only to have the payout for first and runner up cut by such a huge amount? Why did a racer try repeatedly to contact Linda by phone and verify information about the race, only to have her not return his calls? Please show me the flyer, or ad that states a car count minimum, I can definitely show you the one that doesn't say anything about a car count. I heard the total payout for first and second was only around $1,800 total, or is this just another nasty rumor? I guess when you have to start paying cash, you can't fool people by writing them checks that aren't worth the paper their written on. I can almost bet their won't be a response to this from anyone at Temple.

Re: Temple this weekend ( we are getting a new website)

The race was not " Garaunteed" . You will not find it anywhere in the flyer saying that.

Re: Temple this weekend ( we are getting a new website)

Kirk as a racer when you see an ad saying $2500 to win what exactly goes thru your mind.I have noticed if there is a limit on car count other tracks put that on the flyers?Rumor also has it that you are not management, you are family. Is that true or rumor?I have found in my racing endevors You have to say what you mean and mean what you say

Re: Temple this weekend ( we are getting a new website)

Kirk is Linda's nephew, so it goes without saying he's going to sugar coat everything and cast as much of a positive light as possible on the track, as he should.

Kirk is not really a "manager" there as much as he is a soundboard. I'm sure they make him think he's something, like giving him errands, having him make sure the bathrooms are stocked, let him stand at the starting line, etc. But he really just runs interference for Linda, kinda like he does on the message boards here. There is really only one person calling the shots at Temple, and her word is final. Having Kirk out there, is probably the best thing Linda could do, since she's really not a "people person".

Yes, this entire year the payouts have been advertised as "guaranteed". However, it's always been the top spot that is guaranteed, not the other spots. Technically, a winner could get $2,500 to win and runner-up $0 and there could really be no valid argument.

I don't know what the future has in store for the track. I still race out there, but I have to remain undercover so I don't join the list of banned racers (such as Terry Tanner who I heard was banned for protesting the receipt of a check with "insufficient funds"). But they are paying in cash now, so that should help. When I saw them handing it out last weekend, it made everyone feel a little more comfortable. So maybe the car counts will come back around now that they have changed their payment method. I hope it does. I like the track being close, and it's convenient to race on Sunday.
