LONESTAR NOW OPEN

WE RE-OPENED TONITE. ALMOST DIDNT HAPPEN AS WE GOT POURED ON WITH RAIN JUST AFTER 6 PM WHEN CARS WERE MOVING UP TO THE STAGING LANES.

PEOPLE KEPT COMING IN EVEN WHILE IT WAS RAINING. SO OUR CREW WORKED HARD TO GET THE TRACK DRY. WE ENDED UP RUNNING 1/8 MILE FOR A FEW HOURS. THE TRACK WAS STILL DAMP DOWN AT THE END OF THE 1320. WE RAN TIL ABOUT 11 PM AND ENDED UP SHUTTING DOWN AFTER A CRASH (CAR HURT NOT DRIVER). WE WERE GOING TO STAY OPEN TIL MIDNITE AS WE HAD OVER 100 CARS THERE.

WE HOPE YOU CAN COME VISIT LONESTAR AND SEE THE IMPROVEMENTS TO THE PROPERTY.

SEE YOU AT THE TRACK SOON.

Re: LONESTAR NOW OPEN

Would you care to pass along any information about the incident friday night, i.e. the driver, the car, any damage to the track/guardrails, etc? We troubleshooters like to hear what happened. If not, no problem.

Re: LONESTAR NOW OPEN

It was a blue roadster, Don't know the drivers name, He was all right, saw him running after the car as they were dragging it back to the pits. the track just wasn't sticky enuff for a race car, there were street cars that were having trouble getting down the track, the driver of the roadster lost traction through the top end lost it, hit the wall 3 times. We attempted to make a pass in the Daytona, and broke loose at the line.

"the driver of the roadster lost traction through the top end lost it, hit the wall 3 times."

Actually he got out of the groove right at the 330', after the crash the driver said... "I know I didn't lift".

We walked the track and you could see his tracks leave the groove in the area of the 330'.

He lost it at the 330' and didn't hit the wall until almost the finish line.

Glad he was ok, the crash sounded "icky" from the staging lanes.

Re: LONESTAR NOW OPEN

It is a real shame when some racer gets over there head on a run and gets out of shape and then wont lift to save themselves and their car. Further, it is a shame that everyone else at the track loses track time due to some ******* who is not willing to lift.

I would suggest that the track operators weed out those who wont lift and spoil it for everyone else.

Re: LONESTAR NOW OPEN

Hmmmmm ****** Off Racer Thats a nice name. Use your rain check and go another day. I am sure this racer intentionally crashed his car on a slick track to screw your night up. Employees of track busted their tails to try and get track right but mother nature didnt allow. When a 10 sec (1/8 mile time)street car spins tires down track the track is too slick. I am sure saturday track was great, and I am looking forward to coming back out.

Re: LONESTAR NOW OPEN

Wes,
I ran 9.53 with a 2.28 60' and spun the tires HARD at the 330' mark!

Car went slideways, as tiff was struggling for traction off the starting line.

She cut a 2.8 60' and ran somewhere in the 10's.

Paul summed it up pretty good, when a 10 sec 1/8th mile car spins down the track.....
(I think he was talking about tiffs run}

Re: LONESTAR NOW OPEN

Went back out LATE saturday hoping that a full day of cars going down the track would improve the surface..

Hot off the street, loaded trunk the car went 9.81 then a round robin 9.78

Car still spun downtrack, but atleast it wasn't sliding sideways like friday night.

60's are still suffering and missing .15, but I'm quite sure it'll come around.

Re: LONESTAR NOW OPEN

Thanks for the info Tom, I think they need a gas-turbine track dryer like HRP, I think me could afford a small one, maybe? On Saturday did they run S/S in the 1/4 mile? Strange judgement call there...

Re: LONESTAR NOW OPEN

Actually, the above should read "I think HE could purchase one." I know I don't that kind of funds...
