South Texas Bracket Series???

Here's a concept I've kicked around...

Why not get all the area tracks together and come up with a local bracket series??

Couple of angles you could take with this -

Each track has 1 or 2 'series' races - race for championship.

Expand the series to encompass all bracket events at each track. Model the divisional vs national series. Local races would count like divisionals and the series meets would count as 'nationals' make the series championship the best 'x' races out of 'x' races attended in both local and series level.

Benefits:
-Get area tracks to work together...each track wins when they have their event...good car count.

-Big enough to help attract potential sponsors. More participants and more reach make the series more lucrative to sponsors.

-"Combined" series could open alot of doors and make it interesting. Since it is a local based series, a racer is going to feel like he/she has more of a chance to win it all rather than a national 'super series' type program. having several tracks makes it a prestigious honor. With scheduling cooperation, cross participation might increase as a racer from one track might jump over to 'block' another racer at another track.

Seems like you should be able to get bracket tracks like HRP, SAR, PVR, LSMP, Evadale? Angleton?

Just an idea going down the road...

Re: South Texas Bracket Series???

sounds like something similar to the I-10 series a year ago between lonestar and san antonio, they were a lot of fun, even had a sponsor or two, it kind of weakened (car count)a little toward the end of the second year... it sure seems like the way to go to me, nice size purses and track rivalries all within a couple hours drive...

Re: South Texas Bracket Series???

I want to say there was another attempt at something like this between Evadale and Sealy a few years back but it fell though or fell apart after just a few races.

Would be cool to have a series like that though.

Re: South Texas Bracket Series???

Will, If I remeber right there are 12 or 13 tracks in div 4. How about declaring a home track early, but allowing show up points if you attend a bracket race at a track other than your home track. This would add a little variety at the races, without punishing a racer for trying something different. Mabey?????

Re: South Texas Bracket Series???

the i10 series definitely laid the groundwork to show how something like this could be successful. one key to it i think would be keeping it from being too broad a range to where you make it too hard for racers to travel. between sealy, hrp, sar, pvr, evadale you could have a nice series within a decent radius.

"between sealy, hrp, sar, pvr, evadale you could have a nice series within a decent radius."

Agreed. Would be very cool if this was to happen.
