just looking around

Where are you from?

Texas Coast

Give a brief story .

My husband and I were in an accident on our HD Heritage on a beautiful Sunday evening on 9/15/2007 when a woman turned in front of us with not blinker and not in turning lane. We both hit the right side, myself as the passenger was thrown 30 ft from bike..as you can image multiple injuries...knee..ankle crushed..ribs broke back broke..so on...I admire some of the people that I have read about online. I keep a good attitude even though i have more to go in the healing/surgical process. I am lucky in so many ways. Husband is buying a trike but I am not so sure that i can ride at least not now May be the end of the road for us not sure

Looking for support to make it thru what I hope is the final year of surgery!! help Also looking for info on back problems, ankle fusion etc

I could write a book about it (so many phases and stages in the process of "making a come back"). I would like to hear from others with similar experiences

Give a brief story .

my wife and I had our right of way violated in july of 07. Cost us more than my leg but I'm getting over it. The toughest thing for me to get over is the callousness of the driver. A 44 year old woman having a heated cellphone conversation. So heated that she refused to hang up to call 911 and stood over me and cursed me when I asked. All the while I'm trying to get a turniquette on my leg which was severed completely. The police made her hang up to answer questions as the ambulance took me away. I have never heard from her. I just can't understand how someone can be so unconcerned about the life of another human being. Aren't we all in this together?

My dad use to ride until a close friend was seriously hurt, and not wanting to leave 5 kids with broken hearts if anything happened to him he quit riding, as a kid dad taught me to ride a bike, just a 50cc nothing flash, came off it a few times though, thought I was gonna be the next Burt till I burnt my leg on the exhaust, grand dad would have been proud, nothing like the feeling of speed.

Only the One Time***

Give a brief story .

While driving one early morning in July. Heading to the mountains on the back of my husband's newly purchased motorcycle. On a dark straight stretch of road (3miles from home) a older drunk man decided he no longer wanted to wait on the approaching cycle. Suddenly he pulled out from a side road. I thought"Dear God
No". Within seconds the vehicles collided as my husband and I were slamming into the front driver's side of his car at 50mph.
Curtis went airborne as did I. Unfortunately he felt the most impact of the crash. Both helmets were thrown off on impact. I recieved three broken ankle bones, femur bones,6broke ribs, and a broken mutilated middle finger on my left hand. Curtis however was not so fortunate He landed approx.110ft from the crash site on his head suffering traumatic brain and spinal injuries. I revived him at the scene of the crash. I thank God every day I was on that bike to save his life. Although not totally recovered, After 11 mos. now he is still my miracle. He still suffers with memory loss, forgets where he is sometimes, and suffers from high seizure disorders. Lawsuit is still pending investigations on the drunk driver...
I never knew one ride would change my life this much. And, the lives of my 3 beautiful daughters....Who don't understand what has happened. But we are still closer now as a family than ever before. I now know what it means to "Live Like You Were Dying"........
As for Curtis, We will see him through this till the very end. Good Luck Baby!!!

ABATE< GA chapter 11

Give a brief story .

My husband and I went out for a midnight drive. On the way home we took a nice winding road, except it is also dark. As we were approaching the narrow 2 lane bridge over I-95 A car was coming toward us with his bright lights on. My husband was following the yellow line because he could not see straight ahead. The yellow line is supposed to follow around the concrete median, instead it ended right in the middle of the median. We hit the median at about 35 miles an hr. It still threw my husband about 75 feet and myself about 30 feet from where the bike came to rest. My husband was hospitalized for 1 week( that was another disaster story in it self). I was able to go home that night but suffered severe upper back and neck strain, I also had a concushion. My husband suffered a contusion( which is a fancy way of saying he had a brusing of the frontal loab of the brain) torn ligaments of his thumb and hand.He was out of work about 8 months. He was never the same after the accident, even though his neurologist said he would be as good as new in 6 months.

Please enter your comments?

I found out later that my husband suffered a severe brain injury. He had severe short memory loss. he had a photographic menory before this. After the accident he didn't.

Hi speed police chase of which I was not involved except for the guy they were chasing ran into me. I was hit, almost, head on by a pickup doing almost 100 MPH. The impact took off the left wheel of the pickup and my left leg about 6 in" above the knee. I now ride with a side car.

Please enter your comments?

high speed chases should be outlawed. We need to have an attention circle in fron of us and not pay attention to anything outside that circle. This has been my rule I have lived and rode by. I viololated this rule one time in my life and it cost me my left leg
