Michael P. "Skip" Matey, Jr. passed away on March 3, 2020. He was 71 years old. Skip was born in Ridley Park, PA to Maryanna (nee Hipple) and Mike Matey Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Marlene; children, Michael III (Leslie), Nicole Matey-Reynolds, and Carrie Matey; grandchildren, Rebecca Reynolds, Daniel Reynolds, Matthew Reynolds, Christopher Fallis, Willow Matey, Holly Pattison, Michael Paul Matey, IV; siblings, Brad Matey (Charis), Janet Barsky, and John Moyer (Joan); sister-in-laws, Colleen Schantz (Joe), Christine Cubano, and Helene Ryan. Skip is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Beth Green and his brother in law, Michael Ryan.

Skip grew up in Abington, PA where he attended Abington High School. After graduating, Skip enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. Skip served as a radio operator in Vietnam for the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division from 1966-1970. He was awarded many medals and badges during his service including the Combat Action Ribbon for his combat service and his units were awarded 5 Presidential Unit Citations. He married Marlene at Camp Lejune in NC in 1970. After Skip was honorably discharged, he and Marlene moved to Willow Grove, PA where he worked for Bell Telephone and later Verizon until his retirement. Skip loved the mountains and found solitude there. He frequented the Poconos, Renovo, and Colton Point.

Unfortunately due to the virus we had to postpone the funeral service.
