Hello! I have been coming to the area for over 40 years and spend a lot of time walking. I have long been intrigued by Trebrea Lodge in Downrow Lane near Trenale. It’s such an elegant building seemingly in the middle of nowhere and I wonder if anyone knows anything about its history. All I have managed to find out is that it was built by the Bray family and that it is reputed to have a secret tunnel possibly used for smuggling. Any Google searches simply return for sale information as it is currently on the market. Does anyone out there know what the family did to enable such an imposing house to be built? I would love to satisfy my curiosity! Many thanks indeed.
