Myself and my partner will shortly be coming back to tintagel (2nd time this year) and have been trying to get some accomodation for 1 night, 2 people on the 28th Oct. We've called several guesthouses and not one will accept a 1 night booking, this I could understand at high season, however the 28th is not high season, a couple of the places we called were quite rude, we've been coming to tintagel once or twice a year for over 10 years and never had a problem before, what's changed this year?

Perhaps you should name and shame! Everyone needs a wake up call from time to time. If you still haven't found accommodation perhaps you should at least list the places you have tried and then someone could suggest some you haven't.
I hope this doesn't spoil your trip.
