I had a dream last night where I was following around a man that I have a crush on in my waking life. In my dream I was following him around. He was dressed in old fashioned army uniform and was flirting with a woman that he is friends with.

In my waking life I actively avoid speaking to him and being around him as he makes me feel uncomfortable. Neither of us are in the army.

What does this dream mean?

You state you have a crush on the guy but are uncomfortable being around him in waking life. The uncomfortableness you feel may have a connection to your "principles". I would focus on the 'strict' upbringing as possibly being a reason for your 'feeling comfortable around men'. But such feelings often have a deeper reasons. Are there any specific reasons or experiences you can think of that makes you feel uncomfortable? If you do not overcome these feelings you may find it difficult to have meaningful relationships with men. Not only romantic but also casual, at work or at play. Dreams tend to point out those aspects that are 'out of balance'.
The 'flirting' with a woman he is friends with'. Does that have any meaning other than a dream statement? Perhaps a past relationship that 'soured' your desire for romantic interests. Or some other early life experiences?
