last night i dreamt of my last serious ex boyfriend. i dreamt that he came back to me and convinced me to cheat with him even though he has a partner.

we have been apart for more than 4 years and i have not spoken to him for a year, why am i dreaming about him now

Why are you dreaming of him now? Is your current romantic life not where you wish it to be? That may unconsciously lead you to past relationship with your ex-bf. But if he cheats in the dream it may mean he cheated on you previously {or you felt cheated in some manner in the relationship}. The dream may be as much a reminder of the negative aspects of that relationship while in the present you are not satisfied with your current romantic life. Going ack is not an option if there is cheating involved.
