My sister's recurrent dream

Hello!

I told my sister about this great site, then she asked me to post this recurrent dream she's been having for more than a year. It comes and goes.

She dreams she's floating on the water as a dead corpse, just like that famous painting about Ophelia. And she says she feels very bad after waking up.

Would you have any thoughts about it?
Thanx!

Re: My sister's recurrent dream

Natalie,
Water often symbolizes the unconscious. This may suggest there are unconscious emotional issues that are weighing on her that she has consciously repressed or ignored.

The dead corpse would probably represent some aspect of her {your friend's} psyche, some part of her has died or is dead and does not function as it should.

The floating may represent a need to release these emotional issues. And her waking frame of mind is important. And the fact these dreams are recurring. If she feels 'very bad' upon waking that may suggest these emotional issues are serious. The dreams will most likely continue until there is a resolution to the issues the dreams are trying to address, and help her resolve.

Re: My sister's recurrent dream

Hey, G!

You certainly helped a lot here.
She's a very closed person and never clear about her real feelings until it bursts.

Now I got a better grasp on why she appears so much to live in denial.

Thankx so much, G!
I hope it might help her as well

Re: My sister's recurrent dream

Natalia,
Let's hope it does help her open up to her emotions. The healing can only begin when that happens. As long as she keeps things bottled up it will only get worse. Perhaps psychological counseling is appropriate. It does help to have friends like yourself who are concerned enough to seek out answers that may be of help to her.
