I once again recommend watching this most enlightening series by Joseph Campbell. It took me several years to fully understand the importance of understanding mythology when interpreting dreams. Beyond the universal {archetypes} symbols that often appear in our dreams when major changes in life occur, understanding symbol and metaphor as the 'original' language of the primitive psyche provide insights to the deeper psyche. The deeper psyche is where we discover the underlying causation to who we are as individuals and collectively. Discovering those underlying causations is where the healing finally begins.
Campbell articulates in a manner we all can understand the message of the myths as well as the psychology that underlies that message. I have watched, listen to on audio books, or have read all of these 6 parts many, many times over the past 15 years and I am still fascinated by Campbell's ability to communicate the 'message'. Campbell is a great primer for learning Jung.
