ATTACK OF THE WASTE-HOLDER

ATTACK OF THE WASTE-HOLDER
My husband Larry and I am in the back bedroom/den of my mother’s house, my childhood home. We are on our hands and knees and there is an empty bucket---Larry has a piece of cardboard I think and there are live objects on the floor, small clear blobs like jellyfish that he is scooping up to throw away--they are not jelly fish in the dream but we are avoiding touching them, it seems as if it will be very painful or dangerous. My mother is nearby watching. Then there is a huge blob of this stuff looming in front of us, bigger than us, and we both quickly pick it up and throw it into the bathtub. Before this I think I was poking some of the objects with the corner of a piece of cardboard and lifting them into the bucket that way. I think this is how we move the large blob. Once it is in the bathtub I turn on the water full force, hot water, there is steam. I don’t want to hurt the blob just want to kill it. Larry, my mother and me stand at the bathroom door watching---the water seems to be decreasing the size---there is a big indentation where the water is hitting it. I am worried that we might be hurting the blob and I say “are you sure this isn’t hurting it.” I am concerned it will feel like it is being burned from the hot water. I want to get rid of it but not in a way that will cause it to suffer, I want to do it quickly so it will be over before it realizes it. (like swatting a fly or stamping on a spider----rather than half killing and watching it trying to move. Larry doesn’t think it has feelings and is not concerned and reassures me it isn’t suffering. Then it rises from the bathtub and the shape of it is like a thick square with rounded corners---it comes straight forward and we are imbedded in it (like flies in amber--or like objects in a large clear paperweight) At first I feel as if I can’t breathe---I am able to move my right hand and arm and I reach up and pull part of the stuff away from my nose and mouth and I tell Larry and my mother to keep pulling parts of it away or we will suffocate if we do nothing. I also know what the name of this blob is now and I tell them it is a waste-holder.

Re: ATTACK OF THE WASTE-HOLDER

Pat,
When I read the first few sentences of the dream my first thoughts are 'what is in the back of your mind, and likely in your deeper unconscious, that has to do with your mother, and perhaps your early life as child? It affects both you and your husband. Something is empty, perhaps in a relationship between you and one or more of these people {your mother, your father and/or your husband}. The jellyfish may be a clue. It can symbolize painful memories {looking at Hyperdictionary-a definition that makes a lot of sense since jellyfish are painful to touch}. It could also represent a lack of self esteem, inadequacy. Look at these relationships and determine what is in common with those and the dream.

Your mother is watching. Something about that relationship remains a part of your deep unconscious. Unconscious influences affect adult life and behavior. Those influences most often come from early life experiences {childhood home}.

What is bigger than the two of you and your husband? Is there something recently that has occurred that fits here. Or perhaps an ongoing experience involving the two of you. The bathtub is for cleansing oneself of something. What could be the large blob that is looming in front of you and needs to be removed? Cardboard is very strong and trying to remove the 'blob' by that method may represent be a futile attempt.

The blob could represent more than one thing. Something that needs to be removed, killed, but without harming it.

The relationship with your mother, and then your husband seems to have ties. My sense is there are aspects of childhood experiences involving your mother that relate to your relationship with your husband in the present. The steam would be a 'hot' emotional issue and by looking within your unconscious {as dreams do} and seeing and understanding the aspects about yourself and your life, it will help you understand some of your emotions.

What is it that makes you suffer when you look back at your childhood, and then look at yourself today. Consciously they look to be two different things but there are unconscious aspects that bind them together. It could be early life experiences and their influence on your psyche have associations to your present day self. You want this thing to die quickly. That could be in response to a situation between your husband and you as well as a personality trait you possess.

Larry has a different take on the situation. This may represent a real life experience. The two of you are caught in something that is pressuring you. Again the mother-husband relationships are involved.

The name is waste-holder. What is the waste in your life that is holding you?

The thing about dreams is they do not come right out and say this or that. They use symbolic language to describe the emotional life of the dreamer, those emotional aspects that are in conflict. A good interpretation at best can provide clues but it is left to the dreamer to put the pieces together {like a puzzle}.

I hope this interpretation helps you understand the emotional aspects that are now playing in your life. I know there are 'underground tunnels' you have yet to discover and this dream may be a big step in revealing what some of those are. Look to aspects of your personality that stems from early life as well as the relationship with Larry. The early life stuff would involve your mother. Are you a lot like her. Or are there experiences from childhood involving her that could at play in your relationship with Larry. It could be both.

Note: Anyone who says they can tell exactly what a dream means can be classified in the same category as a roadside 'psychic' or fortuneteller. They are charlatans. I don't practice such quackery but I do hope to help the dreamer understand their dreams, and by doing that themselves.

Re: ATTACK OF THE WASTE-HOLDER

Jerry,
Thank you for your response and thoughts on this dream. There are many personality traits shared by my husband and my mother. Emotional distancing from "hot topics" and painful ones is one area I am seeing in this dream since reading your reply and also I am thinking about when I have felt suffocated by the responses of my mother and my husband.

Re: ATTACK OF THE WASTE-HOLDER

Pat,
This statement from my interpretation seems to fit what you are saying, "The relationship with your mother, and then your husband seems to have ties. My sense is there are aspects of childhood experiences involving your mother that relate to your relationship with your husband in the present." Shared traits would be the common denominator. Also, could there be experiences from childhood that involved your mother and her relationship with your father that may also fit with what you are experiencing in your marriage?

Looking back over your posted dream The Crime in an Underground Tunnel there may be associations to your husband, the unnamed man in the dream. The crime may have to do with your relationship with him. He may have changed in recent times {the 3 men}, not who he used to be.
And/or the 3 men could be referencing 3 men in your life. Your husband would probably be one of them. You father may be another. Is there a third man in your life? That man could be your masculine aspects.

Going back to your Slasher Dream. The slasher may be unconscious forces 'slashing' away at you because of undiscovered/unresolved emotional conflicts. It may be addressing childhood experiences but not necessarily traumatic experiences of someone actually 'slashing' you {the black men}. But it could be addressing such possibilities. The puppies, especially the one that has gotten separated, my be about 'mother' issues.

The Time Traveling puts you in a different time dimension, something you done before. That may suggest repeated experiences. Perhaps experiences in childhood being repeated as an adult {your experiences as a child with your mother that you may now be experiencing in some form as an adult}. Those early life experiences have influenced who you are now. A question I had asked in my interpretation, "Are you a lot like your mother {perhaps many shared experiences}? again brings up 'mother issues'. Another statement from my interpretation may be relevant to this present dream; "Perhaps relationships with the male species are in common". And yet another statement from that dream that may be revealing, "The one woman represents the past and the other is the present".

Could the years in the Time Traveling dream 1929 and 1930 have any associations to your mother?

Digest what I have given here and let me know if it awakens anything within you. Jung said it always takes a series of dreams to really to begin to understand what is within the unconscious. If I am on the right track then perhaps looking back over all these dreams and the interpretations can reveal more today than when they were first given. That is another truth Jung so=poke about, seeing more later on than when the dream first was dissected. That only makes sense.
