Dream starts with me asking someone I went to University with if he can give me a lift to the yoga class I am teaching.
I am running late, he has the means to get me there quickly ( a car).
He has a beautiful young child - shiningly beautiful - I ask her (?) age and he says two (?) - older than my daughter anyway.
This fellow is now a Professor - well he carries the Title, yet unless he has intrinsically changed he is probably still pretty useless at the pointy end or work matter / the practical issues. (I think I am the opposite).

He agrees to give me a lift. But he is slow getting ready. I need to change before the class, returning to a change room where I have left my stuff. Eventually I get to the change-room. It is full of very brawny men, it is intimidating; I am disorientated - there are two entrances (I didn't know this) and I have trouble finding my locker. Eventually I do - then I leave through the other entrance - and he must be at the other one - so I have to go back through, and I loose more time.

I am so late it is likely that all the students will have left.

I am at a cross-road: it is dark/ night . Initially he is with me. There is the road we have come up, and there are two divergent roads. We are in the middle of the intersection. No one else is in sight / we are alone. I look for road signs (pointing to where the roads go) - initially I cannot see any signs; and there is nothing familiar with which to get my bearings.
Then I see some signs, and although I don't know exactly where the places referred to are, they are both in the general direction I want to go - having given up on getting to the class I am supposed to teach.
Then he is gone, and I am alone.

There is a man in the distance, on my left; he sees me, and throws a ball towards me - surprisingly I catch it. Then he throws another. I manage to catch it too. I wonder if he was trying to hit me with the balls. He is then on my right - and I throw the ball to him. Is this a game - or is it some sort of challenge / threat I am wondering. Then as if to answer, he is on my left again, some way away; and he bowls the ball, full speed where he wants - showing me that if he wanted to 'hit' me with the ball he could have.

Obvious waking life connections - my concerns are - being 'late' for something I 'should' be doing (as Marion Woodman said in The Crown of Age = going where the energy leads , ,, teaching yoga does that for me). A physical issue meant a career altering event, the start of yoga (14 years ago now), and although I am teaching once a week and back at work (that may mean a transition possibly to Professorial title) it just lacks energy. Hence cross roads.

Thanks for the additional info. I believe you have solved much of the dream. Let's see if this helps.

The unknown someone who gave you a lift is of course you. Your experience at the university is what gave you the 'lift'.

But as you stated you are running late. Two aspects to that. Being late and running. The car is the direction in which you are headed/should be headed.

The child {her?}. A developing feminine aspect? It could also in a secondary sense be saying something about your childhood but that would less likely {age of two you would not have conscious memories-unconscious possibly. This developing part is a beautiful aspect.

This fellow is you. Carrying the title would likely be what you suggested. Not the real you on the inside. Incorporating the opposite is what the Individuation Process is all about. Whatever is true on the outside has an opposite on the inside {Jung}. Practical matters are what the conscious mind is concerned with. It is what is on the inside that matters most.

The students are your inner learning aspects. There is a concern if you don't achieve this inner learning process, incorporate into your life you will miss out. The left is the creative/spiritual/bliss aspect.e

The cross-roads of course is where you are. The dark night are the unconscious aspects , knowledge beyond the conscious realm. You have changed course and that has led to a different possibilities. The middle can represent balance but also indecision {do you take the right or left path}. This is your decision to make, alone. There also may be feelings of isolation. Not seeing signs could be indecision {in your waking life} but also could suggest you are looking for something that isn't there {bliss factor perhaps?}.

But as always when on the hero journey, just when there are barriers doors open. Both are paths you must take. You have to live with the social dragon {for now} but while doing so you work toward your bliss. Once to have crossed the final threshold {of learning your bliss} you teach {that is the command from the Mononmyth}.

But indecision remains. The inner self has yet to be truly expressed.
This may also pertain to waking life experiences }being alone} but that would likely be secondary.
