Bed and pillow dream

Last night, I dreamt of being in the bed of a guy I have had a thing for, for more than a year now. (This man and I have not had a proper relation, nor even an improper one, a bit of fooling around and a lot of talking about it and why we cannot be together but we do not seem able to leave it alone either). So, I was in his bed while he went off to do some work, and I stayed waiting for him to come back. There was a vague sensation of a couple of other women in the room, one in a sofá and another just around. And also a sensation of trying to have me off the bed and out of the space. And I would not move. At some point I could see my big pillow getting up in the air and I realised it was tied to some threads that a person who was working next to "my" guy in the floor above, was using to have my pillow snatched from me so that I would become uncomfortable in the bed and eventually have to move. But as catched the pillow and started cutting the threads. So eventually, I was left alone in the room, the other women disappeared and I noticed the bed had only a bedcover on but no sheets and I was still waiting for the guy to come back.

I am not sure whether it means anything at all. However, as I do not usually dream about real people or real places/situations, and have only dreamt twice o three times in total of this person in more than a year, I wonder whether someone can see a meaning in this dream. Thank you in advance for your opinions.

Re: Bed and pillow dream

Lunar,
Here is a breakdown of the images {symbols} and actions in your dream. To get a better understanding of how dreams function {a language of symbol and metaphor} I suggest you read my page A Simple Guide t Dreams. It will explain the Jungian concepts on dreams and how I approach dreams in my analysis.

I sense the dream is not only about this guy but also your masculine qualities {animus}. In short you are subconsciously {beds are a bridge between your conscious and unconscious} weighting the need to make the move to go further in the relationship since he has not done so {he went off to do some work, and I stayed waiting for him to come back}. You share a lot of the same sexual tensions as he does {also being symbolic of being in bed with him} and are waiting for him to make the next move. The other women in the room are the emotional aspects {feminine} and you need to get out of that emotional space and utilize your masculine qualities {courage to make the next move}. As it stands things are up in the air and you must indulge him {pillow} to move forward. But you wish to do so with no strings attached {mental expression, the person on the floor above/which is your head}. You worry such a move will be an uncomfortable for you {and possibly make him uncomfortable}. You need relief from that position {laying on the pillow for relief} and cut the tension by utilizing your masculine qualities>. Whatever emotional barriers there may be are removed {other women in the room} . There is a lot of sexual appeal {bedcover} but he is being slow to make a move {waiting for the guy to come back}.

Summary
You feel a real attraction to this guy but he is moving too slow to make the next move. The guy, besides being himself, also represents your masculine qualities. Those involve you having the courage to make the next move. You have demonstrated your interest and are waiting for him to make the next move. That requires you to do so but that not only takes courage {a masculine quality} but requires you to get past the emotional issues {women in the room} you have about doing so {and perhaps issues involving having a casual affair with him}. These are subconscious thoughts you are working through, deciding whether to make the move or not.

Re: Bed and pillow dream

Hi Jerry, and thank you for your prompt reply. There are some points in your analysis that seem quite valid but I think you should have some more background info on the matter.

It´s a bit more complicated than that. We have already made moves towards each other in the past and have had a couple of encounters. His is a more superficial approach, mine did implicate emotional involvement in the past as I made clear from the start I did wish for something more than just an adventure. But he cannot commit to anything even as light as a few hours visit where I live. We have had endless conversations by chat on the subject of what each one of us wants, there is desire, there is affection and affinity but apparently no intention or real feelings from his side, not even an effort to urge whatever physical encounters there may be. But he won´t leave me alone either. I had to stop talking to him a couple of times in the past year in order to get over my feelings. At this moment, we are back to a "friendly online relation" after a 4-month silence from my side which he broke by speaking to me. After the initial updates, he started insinuating a possible intimate encounter but I have not really encouraged him and made clear I do not expect anything from him therefore I am not really paying attention. He now seems more serious and I did think he was going to start ignoring me but he keeps writing now and then. He claims to have been heartbroken in the past and he seems to be a workaholic so it is always work for him over the rest. For my part, yes, I desire him, but I am emotionally involved and I cannot help wanting more, so I am not sure I want to play with fire by becoming more vulnerable towards him if he is not similarly involved. So, I do not think it is lack of courage from my part, it is rather caution.

I had worked out a rather different interpretation of the dream in my head so it is pretty interesting to have your analysis of it. Thank you again.

Re: Bed and pillow dream

Lunar,
If you will take your response and then compare it to the dream I think you will see correlations between the two. One aspect has to do with your animus qualities to do with the issue of the relationship with this guy friend. They would have to do with the confusing nature of the relationship. What do 'you' really want and how to handle his attitude. It is your masculine self that is in conflict as much as the relationship itself. I see this conflict which is identified with these two statements
*dreamt of being in the bed {with the guy}
*sensation of trying to have me off the bed and out of the space
You 'desire' the relationship but don't want it to take up a lot of space in your life

These are your conflicting emotions. What the dream is attempting to do is help you clarify these emotions. You need to use your greater strengths {masculine} to work through the emotional aspects of the relationship. These qualities would help you resolve the emotional issues within your psyche which would help clarify how to go about handling the outer relationship.

In the end it is about the relationship and the complexity you acknowledged. It is an inner issue as well as an outer. Resolving the inner is what the dream is primarily attempting to help you resolve and by doing that you will be better able to resolve the issues to do with the relationship. The outer relationship is secondary to the inner conflict {in the dream}.
