Weird dreams

I havnt dreamt for a long time, but la few nights ago I had 2 very weird and distressing dreams.
In one I was in a sports hall and childeren were sitting around the edges , a war was on and firefighters were coming to support the childeren . There were rations just outside the door of the sports hall , a plastic cup containing berries and sachets of water, I had to run out and grab the repeatedly to give to the childeren.
My second dream is disturbing, I was on a beach sitting next to a mermaid, she was telling me a story, she said something like 'There was a girl here once like you and a man on a boat, a storm happend at sea while we were playing a game with her and she and the man got washed out to sea, we couldn't save them and they were left floating in the sea (I have a phobia of the sea) then she said that the man ate the girl to stay alive and built a floating shed in the middle of the sea were he now lives' she pointed at the shed . that was the end, it was very distressing and I was quite shocked when I woke up.

Re: Weird dreams

AnomynouseMM,
To start with let me correct you about not having had dreams in a long time. We all dream every night, several times a nigh {primarily during REM sleep}. Most people just don't remember their dreams. If you don't immediately think about the dream when you wake up and write it down or record it you loose it within seconds. I suggest you read my page
A Simple Guide to Dreams to get an understanding how dreams function.

Your dreams
My sense of the dreams they are addressing 'aggressive' emotional issues that are unconscious and involve 'negative' if not traumatic experiences. These aggressive emotions are unconscious in they have control over your without you knowing it. We all have unconscious emotional energies that does this and when they are strong enough they can be detrimental to a happy, progressive life. The phobia toward the sea may be caused by these issues since in dreams the sea/ocean represents the unconscious and the emotional energies are a part of the unconscious. You are afraid of the sea because you are afraid of the emotional issues/energies.

So what are these negative and aggressive energies/emotions? Probably involves a real man. In dreams the man could represent your masculine aspects {the assertive, rational, aggressive, and/or competitive aspects} but can also point to actual people/experiences with a man. Are there any experiences with a man {perhaps involving actual playing of games} that were negative experiences that could cause you to push them into your unconscious so not toe cause emotional pain in your waking life {we push/repress negative/bad/traumatic emotional issues so not to have to consciously think about them}. It could be pointing to your family life as a whole {rationed love} and your father. The first dream seems to point to this possibility. Or there could have been a 'bad' experience with a man {known or unknown} that was so bad you pushed in it into the unconscious because it was painful to think about. Look for these in your life and see if they exist.

As a norm I interpret the images/actions in a dream and include them in my analysis {I interpret the images/actions, I analyze dreams}. Here is what I get from your dreams.

-sports hall-competing/conflicting emotions that govern how you get along with others/yourself
-children sitting around edges-childhood experiences around edges of unconscious {stored in unconscious
-war on-internal conflict
-firefighters supporting children-hero buttressing experiences {perhaps someone you see as a hero}
-rations outside door of sports hall-rationed love/acceptance in ego life
-plastic cup containing berries and sachets of water-fake acceptance/fulfilling relationship that smells unconsciously {the acceptance/love you seek but get is fake}
-run out to give repeatedly to children-repetitive childhood issues you want to conscious avoid

-bench sitting next to mermaid-passive role/idle/vulnerable aspects
-telling me a story-life lesson
-man on a boat-expressing emotions about aggressive experiences
-storm happened at sea-unconscious emotional struggle
-while playing a game with her-
-she and man got washed out to sea-experienced was pushed into unconscious {sea}
-phobia of the sea-unconscious fears controlling your life
-man ate the girl to stay alive-aggressive emotions that are staying alive devouring you
-built a floating shed in middle of sea-an experience that is stored away and stays afloat in your unconscious
-where he now lives-the aggressive emotions 'live' in your unconscious

Re: Weird dreams

Thankyou for putting so much work in , that makes a lot of sense, especially the part about the shed in the sea being representative of negative emotions in my unconscious, I have had trouble recently suppressing negative emotions and feelings recently because I tend to store my emotions in my head when I don't want to feel them. You are right I am afraid of feeling these emotions and usually block them off when I can. The part about rationed love with my father I think is partly true although this does not cause me any distress, I've had a feeling recently that there is memory im repressing but I just can't remeber . The conflicting emotions part that govern how I get along with others and myself is very true, I had many problems with my ability to socialise normally with others recently due to my distressing emotions, and yet I still want to get along with others. Im having an internal war with my mental health at the moment. Also the part about me seeing someone as my hero is true but it's probably about me wanting to be a hero for my friend who's going through a lot right now, and yet also wanting to look after myself. All of the points you've provided are true, the aggressive emotions devouring me was spot on, the aggressive emotions that 'live' in my unconscious make a lot of sense as well as they are almost part of me I find it hard t imagine living without them, yet I'm desperate to separate from them. The second dreams interpretation was spot on although I believe it may be about my friends experiance with a man that I learned about recently that has caused me a lot of anger and especoally her a lot of upset I have been worrying about it constantly . I tend t only dream about the most insignificant thing that's worrying me, that's why this sudden distressing set of dreams scared me as it was unexpected . The part about childhood issues is also correct I have been remembering things from my childhood that I really hate, memories that sort of disgust and anger me, and I have been feeling that I deserve happiness but at the same time scared that people won't accept me , I feel fulfilled when people emphathise with my pain but have too much paranoia and pride to believe that they truly accept me or that I like being pitied. Thankyou for putting thins in perspective.

Re: Weird dreams

ANONYMOUSMM,
It is impressive you care able to fit the analysis with true experiences in your life. For someone so young it shows a maturity older people often lack. If you are able to continue working with your emotional issues with a professional you should be able to resolve them. If you leave them as is they will continue to have power over you. I hope you do continue seeking help and find resolution. You have a keen mind and need to be able to focus on your personal growth so you can develop and utilize your skills and talents. There are always solutions but it takes will power and discipline to follow through. I sense you possess those positive qualities.
