Last nights dreams

Had multiple dreams last night, what I remember is vague but here is what I can recall.

In dream one I was sitting in a casino playing either poker or black, the game itself was unclear. In this instance I just kept on winning no matter what I did. My money stack got bigger and bigger. I became cognizant of this though and made the conscious decision to walk away from the table while I was still monetarily up.

As my dreaming continued I found myself getting ready to go to some type of club with a group of friends. For some reason we were all going to go to the gym before going out. At some point I found myself alone working out. I just continue to workout and eventually make my way to the club. My friends are aware that they left me and say something about it, I believe that it was either an apology or can excuse, like they could not find me or something.

In my final dream, I was at work. For some reason I was just walking around in a t-shirt and boxer shorts. I believe I was also barefoot. What happened at work was very vague but I do remember going through lockers at one point and at another point I was talking to someone who seemed to be incredibly friendly and for some reason this caught my attention. That is all that I can remember, thanks.

Re: Last nights dreams

Samuel,
I now request those who post a dream to provide a Dream Submission Form so to provide a more through dream analysis. I am working on your dreams and will provide an analysis once I receive your submission. I will say from what I have analyzed there seems to be issues involving taking chances and growing confidence in some aspect of your life. Unconscious issues related to foundations may be what have held you back but there seems to be positive progress in getting past those energies.

Re: Last nights dreams

Samuel,
Here is my analysis of your dreams. I have interpreted the images and actions in each dream and then provided a summary. The first dream and my interpretation of the images/actions is first and then the second dream and my interpretation.

First Dream
I was sitting in a casino playing either poker or black, the game itself was unclear.

Interpretation of Images/Actions
-sitting in casino playing poker/black{jack}-indecision in taking chances due to unconscious stimulus
-kept winning no matter what I did-conquering unconscious fears
-money stack got bigger-gaining and growing confidence
-became cognizant/made conscious decision to walk away-getting past emotional energies/making positive move

-club with friends-positive social aspects
-go to gym before going out-consciously gaining strength
-working out-working through emotions
-continued to workout/make way to club-working to fit in socially
-friends are aware they left me/say something about it-expressing positive attitude
-apology or excuse/could not find me-Apologizing for what you do not understand about yourself/not knowing your true self

Second Dream
I was at work.

Interpretation of Images/Actions
-at work-working to resolve emotional issues/actual work experiences
-just walking around in t-shirt/boxer shorts-moving through life with unconscious issues/conflicts you need to open up to/understand
-I was barefoot-self identity issues/low self esteem/lack of confidence
-going through lockers-having aspects that are hidden/unconscious
-talking to someone friendly-communication with positive self/persons
-caught my attention-fit with who you are

Analysis
Some info you provide in your Dream Submission Form seems to be at the heart of what the dream is trying to communicate. Stagnation and not getting much out of life is probably a bi-product of early life influences and an emotional pattern in the dream {indecision in taking chances}. Playing poker may be a substitute for what is lacking in your life as w hole {you take chances in playing poker but have trouble doing so in your actual life}. Playing poker may be your way of compensating what is lacking in personal attitudes and may be a positive in some ways {as long as you can stop playing when ahead}. Fitting in socially may also be a by-product of early life foundations and a problem in your current adult life {working out}. Physical fitness {a positive} is a good way to work through your stress {I personally use physical fitness for this purpose} and also a way to compensate the lack of personal attitudes. You get mental {and physical} strength from working out {going to gym before going out/outward in your ego life}. You may also find it easier to fit in with those who work out with you. These are the friends that make you aware of your positive self. Of course until you actually go 'inward' psychologically you will not know the underlying issues {finding your true self psychologically}.

In the second dream I see you working on the emotional issues but not knowing what they are {the gym and poker compensating for these unknown/unresolved psychological issues}. I get a sense from this dream there may have been an actual positive experience with a real person or event that caught your attention {incredibly friendly and for some reason caught my attention}. If so it may be important to follow up on this experience since it did strike a positive cord.

Summary
The dreams are addressing inner psychological issues {everyone has issues} and ways you compensate for them. The poker playing may be an opposite to how you interact in real life {taking chances in playing poker but afraid to do so in real life}. Working out would be a way to release stress from the deeper inner issues as well as a place where you have people you identify with {working out}. The underlying issues need to be understood {go back to childhood/early life and explore those years} so you can use these two actions {poker/working out} to your benefit {as well as learning why you need to compensate with using them}. You have esteem issues/lack confidence in your personal life or at work? If so there are reasons for this and can be found in early life experiences/influences. Once you understand those you can remove their unconscious energies so they no longer control your life.

A reply/continued dialog will help me in understanding what you can do in resolving these issues.

Re: Last nights dreams

Jerry,

I have read over your response and am trying to come up with an adequate response but the right words have alluded me. I would say that one thing that has happened to me in the last few years has been a greater sense of awareness. I took the Myers Briggs personality test years ago and have recently revisited it. I was listed as an INTJ and I certainly exhibit many of those habits. I know that in my mind I have what I would call my "ideal" self, and I am not living it. I am sort of what I would call on the cusp. I do things that I would like to do to improve myself one week and then spend a few days a week later on a 2 or 3 day bender. I lack discipline and consistency and have been aware of this for some time.

This statement "sitting in casino playing poker/black{jack}-indecision in taking chances due to unconscious stimulus," is very accurate. Growing up I had an intense fear of failure/rejection to the point of paralysis. I would simply avoid issues/people/places.

"I was barefoot-self identity issues/low self esteem/lack of confidence." Is certainly true, one aspect that this appears in is public speaking. I have improved upon this but it has been a major setback for me in terms of being a successful person.

"talking to someone friendly-communication with positive self/persons." I have had several very positive people in my life but have thus far not maintained communication with them on a regular basis.

I would say one aspect in my past that I realize now is that I approached life from a very logical perspective and did and still do to an extent lack emotional intelligence. I realize that this has caused me to miss out on relationships/friendships and generally caused me angst that did not rear its head till years later. I try not to do this but often times I wish I could just go back 5-10 years to relive certain moments and make decisions not based in fear.

I will post again if anything else comes to me, what is your take?

Thanks,
Samuel

Re: Last nights dreams

Samuel,
I appreciate the response to my analysis. In one aspect related to dream analysis and Jungian concepts it does seem my interpretation of the images/actions. The first dream focused on the positive improvements you have made and 'consciously' work to improve while the second dream focuses on what still work. These fit with your response, the positive endeavors to improve but still lacking all the tools need to get to that place you wish to be {"I do things that I would like to do to improve myself one week and then spend a few days a week later on a 2 or 3 day bender"}. You are taking two steps forward then one {or more} steps back. Further examination of the dream and having a response may shine light on where the problem lies.

The good news is you are consciously working to improve your self. The bad news is not being able to get past the underlying {unconscious} energies to get to the 'promise land' of total wholeness. These energies most likely stem from early life conditions, the living conditions as a child which could have stunted your personal growth {early years of life are most important in forming personality and personal attitudes}. Although there was not any physical abuse in your childhood the psychological effects were mots likely different. Even with good parents living 'without' many of the things others possessed in childhood could/would have had a daunting effect on your psyche {I know from experience this to be true/my childhood was one of living poor}. These conditions would likely be the stimulus {or lack of} for being afraid to take chances and feeling 'left out' from the 'club' because of the living conditions {negative conditions}. Being barefoot in the dream would point to the lack of proper foundations {no shoes} as well as the actual experience of not having the desired things in early life. These would be what needs to be examined further and understood as why they still have the affect on you as an adult.

But lacking desired necessities in childhood would be but one part of the problem. If you go back and examine not only the conditions of your childhood but you as a boy, you may see why your life has taken the path it has. When I looked back at myself as a young child I saw a boy who had positive attitudes but also one who had a lot of negative issues related to living conditions. Looking at oneself as a third person often opens your eyes to who you were and why you evolved as you did. The beginnings/foundations for who you have become are 'stagnated' in childhood. The twists and turns from those beginnings shaped you but it is the foundations that are so solid that must be 'broken' through so to know what energies exist {from your early life} so you can make changes in those to move forward. Dreams can be quite specific in what they wish to communicate and your dreams point to 'taking chances'. The dream language of 'working alone' may point to emotional issues as a child where there were feelings of going it alone. Your comfort zone {as a child{ may have excluded 'taking chances' because of feeling inferior to others around you {because of my living conditions I had these type feelings as a child}. feeling left out {"My friends are aware that they left me"} would apply to be left out among your peers as well as the inner issues of being left out. Those inner issues are what remain from your early life experiences and are what motivate you/unconsciously control you as an adult. Apologies/excuses would fit with these energies as well, self apologies you had no control over {as a child as well as now} and 'inner' excuses that leave you without the necessary tools to progress in life as you should.

The second dream seems to be addressing the 'whole' of what the problems are {with less specificity}. Being at work is both an inner experience in resolving the psyche issues as well as issues in your actual job {all dreams/ all dream images have at least two meanings/applications}. Walking around in T-shirt and shorts would represent moving through life with the unconscious issues I mentioned. It also points to a need to 'expose' what is unconsciously underneath {underwear beneath your outer clothing}. Being barefoot is addressing the living conditions as a child as well as the self esteem issues {the first being at least part of the reason for the second}. You are consciously aware of some of the issues but not aware of the underlying energies {going through the lockers/what is locked away from conscious knowledge}. The apologies {in first dream} are what I penned in my initial analysis, apologizing for what you do not understand about yourself/not knowing your true self. This is what you face when having to make decisions in life. An apologetic attitude that limits your ability to be as positive and progressive as you should be. Friends {unnamed/unknown} in a dream usually symbolize positive aspects {named friends would address these aspects as possibly pointing to real people}. The 'work' you are doing/need to continue to do in trying to understand why you are not where you wish to be in life is a positive aspect {do all you can do and the rest will fall into place}. Talking to someone friendly is the inner communication with yourself about the issues in your life {may point to an actual person you see as a positive influence}. Something recently {prior to the dream} has 'caught' your attention which could be very positive in your life {the trip to Korea/what is that about?}.

I have touched on what the two short dreams have to offer. Further dreams will be more forthcoming with new details {they always do, especially when you take an interest in your dreams and make an effort to have them analyzed}. If you will post a more recent dream perhaps we can discover more about the underlying issues.
