colors

Was having a discussion among friends and one of them said that they had been having vivid dreames latley
and that they were in color!
Somewhere many years ago I thought that I read that
we do not dream in color. I mentioned this and was
told by all the rest of the people present that they certainly did dream in color. Can you shed some light
on this question?

Re: colors

Which colour light would you like shed : ultra violet, infra red perhaps??!!

If you look at the dream dictionary featured bottom left of the menu (in red!) you will find suggested nterpretations for colour in dreams.

Colour interpretation can be subjective - it may mean something quite specific to the dreamer or it may have wider connotations.

I will leave it to the more detailed theorists whom post to this site to explain anything else in more detail!

Re: colors

Richard,

From what I've read it appears normal to dream either in color or black & white. Generally, one is predominant while the other is recessive, or occurs less often.

For me, I dream in color, rarely dreams are 'shades of grey'. That's normal for me. For another, they may dream mostly in monochrome with rare or no color in dreams.

I have not found any data to suggest either is more 'normal' than the other. The only reference I found pertains to a person who normally dreams in color then change to predominately monochrome could be suggestive of a depressive episode, being reflected in the 'lack of color' in their normally colorful dreams.

Hope this answers your question. Perhaps someone else has more detailed information on the topic.

Thanks,
Kathy
