I've had this dream several times over the course of my life. The first was when I was sick with a high fever and thought I might be hallucinating. The next instances though, I was not ill. Just when I was on the verge of sleep, I'd have intense fear, so much so the hair on the nape of my neck would stand. Anyway, a sort of black spiral would appear, like a clump of flaming slinkies (those old metal toys that would walk down stairs, ya know). It always be rotating, spiraling in on itself and would shoot out as large as the room, yelling something that would make me cry with fear, or it would as small as a loaf of bread, whispering which would relax me a little. As soon as it would whisper and I would calm down, it would start yelling and grow large again, flying towards me. It scares the hell out of me and I have always wanted some insight on this. Then...I found this forum. Thanks!

There are a few possibilities and approaches - it is likely that this entity has both personal relevance (as a comment on how you realte to ? the world) and an the level of revealing something about the structure of the unknown.

Fear may be thought of as solely a fear of the unknown, or at least this is a major aspect of fear.

From the perspective of a global symbol - your dream refects the expansion and contraction that is an underlying fumdemental in the Universe. We all expand (are born) and contract (we die). We breath in, we breath out ,, the known Universe has a phase of expandion and then ? contraction. Consider the black holes in space.

On a personal level, what is the meaning ?? I am not sure ?
