Dreams - What They Are and Their Function
Dreams are a succession of images, actions and sensations that occur involuntarily in the mind primarily during the REM stage of sleep. Dreams are unbiased, spontaneous products of the unconscious, outside the control of conscious will. The act of dreaming is physical but the contents of dreams is psychological. They are NATURAL expressions of the dreamer's emotional/personal life illustrating experiences that possess strong emotional energies. Although there are literal applications in dreams the primarily language is symbolic, metaphorical of the dreamer's emotional energies.
  • 1. Dreams are about the emotions, emotional energies of the person who is dreaming. They offer advice and a deeper understanding of our waking life as well as the foundations for the emotional energies of the dreamer.

  • 2. The language of dreams is symbolic, but also with literal applications {literal waking experinces}. The symbolic images and actions are metaphors for the patterns or motifs for the dreamer's emotional/psychological/physical life. Every character in a dream is a different aspect of an unacknowledged aspect of the dreamer and/or a prevalent situation in the person's life involving actual persons/experiences {dreams will address both aspects}.

  • 3. The purpose and function of dreams is to guide the conscious self to achieve wholeness and offer a solution to the problems in waking life. Solutions to problems and conflicts from everyday life, as well as the deeper underlying issues, 'emotional injuries' that stem from the foundations of the dreamer {early life experiences and trama experiences in life}.
---Dreams attempt to reveal the authentic emotions and feelings that are often concealed from the conscious mind.
---Dreams compensate for conscious attitudes and personality traits that are out of balance.

  • 4. Dreams are intentional. Nature provides us with dreams to understand and help heal emotional conflicts/issues. Just as the body has the immune system to heal and protect, the psych{ology} has the dream.

  • 5. Dreams possess 'Archteypal' representations. Archetypes are universal, original patterns and images that derive from the collective unconscious and are the psychic counterpart of instinct. An archetype is an inherited tendency of the human mind to form representations of mythological motifs-representations of the symbolic images/actions without losing their basic emotional pattern. Dreams and mythology share the same archetypal images, myths as illustrations of the universal patterns and dreams as illustrations of personal patterns.

  • 6. All dreams have at least two meanings or applications. One is the symbolic representation, metaphorical of the emotional energies, and the second being a literal application where a person, place or experience is addressing a real life experience. Please Help Me Interpret this dream

Since I turned 22 I rarely remember my dreams when I wake up in the morning, but for some reason I woke up in a sweat, with my heart beating fast, and shaky this morning 12/14/06, and I remembered my dream. I was being chased by warewolves and vampires. I've been having dreams like this since I was young, and I think it's a little strange that I remembered this, I can't remember the last time I remembered a dream. Every dream like this happens differently, it's never the same place or people, but it's always vampires and warewolves trying to kill me. Does that have a hidden meaning in it? Please Help me, & Thank you for you time.

    Farah,
Anytime you have continuous dreams about werewolves and vampires there is a good possibility there are unresolved issues in your life. Werewolves are animals that are not what they seem {a person turns into a werewolf} on the surface. This may be addressing unconscious aspects that are not what them seem to be in the present. You may have repressed experiences in your life. Werewolves are also symbolic of fear and anger.

Vampires suck the blood, or energy, from a person. There may be past experiences that tend to do this for you. But since you have been unable to remember your dreams until this one {this may be a mechanism to repress something in the unconscious}, this dream may be trying to get you to address these unresolved issues before they do start to drain you emotionally.

When a person starts to remember, and confront past negative experiences, there is often a change in that person's life. This would be the 'killing' in your dreams. Death is symbolic of change and when you confront repressed negative experiences a change takes place, a positive change.

Are there any resolved issues in your life? I would start by looking back to when you started having such dreams to help you determine what that might be. It could be very traumatic experience{s} or experiences that for some reason left a negative impression.

Re: Please Help Me Interpret this dream

Further comment about this dream. As most know dreams of someone this age often adddress current ego
situations, more so than they would deeper issues. With this dream I looked to the deeper possibilities because of the dreamer's contineous dreams with the same themes {werewolves and vampires}. She has had dreams of this kind since she was young{er}. This would indicate deeper issues more so than current ego experiences. The stimulus for the dream may be a current experience in her life, something with strong psychic undertones related to the unresolved issues.
