material for brake

What material is used for the brake pad that goes against the belt sheave on a Speedex S14? Mine is completely gone and grooves are worn into the steel mounting plate.

I bought a large fan belt that will fit the groove at a swap meet and cut small pieces off of it and drill small holes to fit the brake lever. I'll have brake material for years to come.

Used a piece of snow mobile clutch belt, same idea as Vee belt. Just drill through belt and fasten with copper electric rivets.
