Of interest ? My late Father Dave Scowen came to the station to construct the mast bases for the new Ariel’s early 70’s just that one contract.This was extended by his boss who I believed was stationed in Spain,he then oversaw the building of the B.O.Q. the bowling alley and other buildings.As the base was eventually taken over by another dept and he wouldn’t receive the same salary,running a local home plus one back in Suffolk it was an uneconomical proposition to stay on.

Best duty stationed ever, too bad it is gone. Well except for that coal truck that ran my ass down and ended the navy career path, However, worth 4 years of college under chap 31. Now work in the VA as an enrollment specialist helping vets as much as i can.

I would be grateful if you could help me or point me in the right direction in my efforts to try and locate Richard (Dick) Bouchard or any family members. I came across a couple of photos on your website posted by Dennis "doc" Cullar in the era 64 - 66. My wife and I tried to post a notice on your website but did not seem to be able to access the site.

My father was ETC Malin. We got there in ~Jan 84 and stayed until Jan 1991, I think. My wife's aunt was LCDR Diane Abruzzo; she left mid 83 or so. Can you believe I didn't find that out until 14 years later when I married her niece and then met Diane for the first time. Amazing how many experiences we had in common from Thurso.

Just finished looking at the guestbook and I agree, not too many entries anymore. But, I'm sure many are like me, I return to see if anyone has signed on that I know. I was talking to John Dunn today at his new house in Spring Park. John was stationed here with me back in 67-69 and he now lives here too. We often talk about old times and try to remember folk station here. We were talking about Milt Johnson today, Rick Morris, Jerry Burilson and Brad/Connie Gabler. We also talked about others like Phil Devine and his chief's indoc ... all good memories. Always nice to see old shipmates check out Steve's guestbook and hope to see more entries in the future. Most of the people were there after me (73-77). But, they are doing a reunion in May in Norfolk. I can't make the trip, but you may want to check it out. Brink some talent in from the 70's when we really rocked Caithness County

I just spoke with JOHN AND LINDA DETWEILER, he was an original, I was just on the cusp of it in 1964. We drove all over Scotland a couple times, he was my supervisor. I left in 1966, best man at Van Osdols and Mortons weddings. I have John's phone and email if anyone needs or wants it. I will always miss THURSO, I have had a stroke and other stuff, John just had a triple by pass but we are still kickin strong. Feel free to contact me.
